We're looking for a Head Chef to join us at Magpie & Stump! Magpie & Stump guarantees a classic Banff experience complete with tacos, tequila and debauchery. This little piece of Mexico in the mountains serves up tacos, burritos, enchiladas and over 60 tequilas. Head Chef

The Head Chef contributes to the success of the company by participating in the management of the daily operations of the restaurant, including the management of all employees in conjunction with the General Manager. In addition, they manage inventory and supplies, optimize profits, and ensure that guests have an experience that lives up to the company values. They work closely with the service team and participate in decisions with the executive team.

What You'll Do:
  • Oversee and manage all areas of the kitchen operations and use your discretion to make decisions quickly
  • Ensure consistent food preparation and the highest caliber of food presentation, looking for ways to continuously improve and communicate with your team
  • Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs, including food and labor costs
  • Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of the kitchen
  • Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/provincial/local laws, and ordinances
  • As a leader within BHC, you'll also be an ambassador of our employer brand, always being on the lookout for top talent and assisting with hiring amazing people to join the family, specifically on the kitchen team
  • You'll lead by example and recognize the importance of employee experience and building a strong team culture
  • The preparation and attendance of weekly and monthly planning meetings
  • Effectively communicate with the Corporate Chef on menu and major decisions
What You Have:
  • 2-4 years of experience in a supervisory kitchen role, with experience in a high volume kitchen environment
  • You don't shy away from working with various types of technology and systems
  • You're not only an amazing team player but also have a knack for bringing others together to work towards a common goal
  • Connecting with people and building trusting relationships comes easy to you
  • You have excellent communication skills and understand the importance of effective communication and workplace culture
  • Collaborative working style and team focus
  • Ability to take a step back to look at things from other perspectives and be open to a different way
  • Ability to work with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
