POSITION SUMMARY

Point Blank is seeking an experienced graphic designer to join our team full time. In addition to excellent design and layout skills, candidates should be proficient in production for print and digital, and enjoy managing multiple projects at one time. Working with our Art and Brand Directors youaEUR(TM)ll be responsible for applying established visual identities to a wide range of deliverables from social share graphics, email templates and websites, to posters and other printed collateral. YouaEUR(TM)ll also contribute to the development of new campaign and brand identities when required. As part of our larger team youaEUR(TM)ll collaborate with writers, animators, strategists, and digital organizers to help execute our clientsaEUR(TM) campaigns.

This is a permanent full-time position open to all applicants permitted to work in Canada. You can be based anywhere in Ontario, Nova Scotia, Manitoba, Alberta or BC, but exceptions may be made for truly exceptional candidates in other locations within Canada.

Requirements

WHO YOU ARE

Cliches about designers make your eyes roll, bt, you do immediately notice horrible typography choices in your everyday surroundings. All the time you spend using Creative Cloud is starting to make you wish an "undoaEUR button exists IRL. And your friends are frequently annoyed by you interrupting movies to make commentary on graphic design choices. Thankfully, youaEUR(TM)re not a jerk, so your love for design hasnaEUR(TM)t ruined all your relationships.

Now to more of the nitty gritty.

You are adept at both graphic design and production. Creating a new logo or an eye-catching layout is thrilling, but you're also happy to put on some headphones (weaEUR(TM)re not music snobs) and zone out on typesetting and file prep. Either way, your creative problem solving skills and keen eye for detail will come in handy. Of course you like making pretty things, but you know that thereaEUR(TM)s way more to your job than that. You care about user experience, accessibility, and making an impact. Style is just another tool in your arsenalaEUR"not a goal in itself. You've got your eye on solving real-world problems. You're passionate about fighting for social issues and lasting change, and are looking for an opportunity to use your creativity for good.

WHAT YOUaEUR(TM)LL DO

  • Create original artwork, design and documents for digital and print applications (including moodboards, social graphics, graphic emails, reports, campaign & brand identities, wireframes, website mockups, etc.)
  • Prepare and deliver final files for our paid ads team, printers, video production vendors, web developers and clients
  • Use critical thinking to evaluate and improve designs based on project requirements, audiences and goals
  • Embrace (and seek out) thoughtful critique to refine your skills and improve your work
  • Work within existing organizational infrastructure (Dropbox, Adobe Creative Cloud, Teamwork, Slack, Google docs, etc.)
MUST HAVES
  • Ideally, a minimum of 1 - 3 years of relevant work experience for a consumer brand, advertising or other creative agency
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Creative problem solver with good communication skills
  • A strong portfolio of web design and/or print design work that demonstrates your approach and range
  • Detail oriented (you enjoy applying your skills to design productionaEUR"bonus points if you like typesetting)
NICE TO HAVES
  • Fluency in French
  • Experience working in the advertising, labour or political campaigns sectors
  • Illustration and animation skills (making gifs) are a plus

COMPENSATION

Salary is commensurate with experience and expected to be in the range of $50,000 - 65,000
