Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and cooking, with a particular focus on sushi and Japanese cuisine. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards while ensuring food safety and hygiene practices are strictly followed.

Duties

Prepare and present sushi dishes with precision and creativity, adhering to traditional techniques and recipes. Ensure all ingredients are fresh, properly stored, and handled according to food safety regulations. Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and ensure timely service during peak hours. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, including equipment, utensils, and work surfaces. Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs for ordering supplies to management. Provide exceptional customer service by engaging with guests when necessary, offering recommendations, and ensuring satisfaction with their dining experience. Stay updated on industry trends and continuously improve skills in sushi making and food presentation.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry. Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and food handling practices. Familiarity with various types of fish, seafood, rice preparation, and traditional Japanese ingredients. Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness in the kitchen. Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Previous restaurant experience is preferred; kitchen experience is essential.
