POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, in a newly created role, the Manager, Finance will manage client finance relationships and work closely with the accounting department (including accounting, accounts payable and portfolio administration) to produce various financial reports on a timely and accurate basis as well as design and implement industry leading practices, reports and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Liaise with client finance departments to ensure Realstar is achieving the highest level of customer service
  • Produce top quality and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports;
  • Prepare written quarterly reports and organize client meetings;
  • Analyze cash flow position to optimize fund-level operating needs;
  • Calculate a variety of investment return measures to reflect fund performance;
  • Prepare and analyze budgets and other special reports required by clients and management;
  • Ensure that financial and operational reporting is completed on a timely basis (e.g. coordinating year-end audits, and preparation of monthly operating statements);
  • Design new reports and arrange for (or prepare) any special reports that management requires;
  • Prepare complex accounting entries for new acquisitions and/or financing and verify information to legal documentation;
  • Recommend and implement improvements to the accounting systems;
  • Coordinate and monitor all tax compliance requirements;
  • Develop and maintain standard practices, controls and procedures for the accounting department;
  • Monitor regular activities to ensure the accurate and timely completion of items such as mortgage and property tax payments, bank reconciliations and inter-company loan repayment,
  • Manage changes to the business resulting from acquisitions or legislative changes;
  • Other ad hoc tasks as requested by clients and management.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Minimum of two years post-CPA designation experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills to effectively work with senior management, auditors and outside clients and investors.
  • Astute decision-making ability to choose amongst various courses of action within the framework of the accounting department.
  • Advanced accounting knowledge to understand, analyze and recommend with respect to highly technical issues such as tax and consolidations.
  • Maintains professional and cooperative relations with auditors and investors.
