The Seabee Gold Operation (\xe2\x80\x9cSGO\xe2\x80\x9d) is located about 500km northeast of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in the boreal forest. SSR Mining \xe2\x80\x93 Seabee Gold Operation is hiring for a Manager, Finance.

About Your New Role:
Reporting to the Denver Corporate office with a strong connection to the SGO General Manager and as a part of the Seabee Leadership Team, the Manager, Finance, will be responsible for leading the financial affairs of the mine including financial, cost and capital reporting and supporting the management team to improve performance of the mine. The role ensures financial processes, financial systems, and a control environment within SGO that support accurate, complete and compliant reporting of financial information for statutory reporting and to the Corporate Reporting team in support of SSR Mining\xe2\x80\x99s internal and external US SEC reporting requirements.
This position coordinates and directs the finance function for the mine by providing leadership to the various team members, including setting KPIs, performance management, d mentoring and coaching, in achievement of the goals and objectives of financial activities (in accordance with corporate strategies and policies) and to ensure compliance by local staff.
The Manager, Finance will form strong relationships with the entire Seabee leadership team, including the General Manager, Department Managers, Superintendents and the Accounting and Finance group within the Corporate office. Key external stakeholders include auditors, regulators, the province of Saskatchewan and consultants.

Your Key Responsibilities:


  • Participate as a member of the SGO Site Leadership Team to influence strategic outcomes at the site and serve as a leader of the overall SSR mining values and philosophy.

  • Assist in developing strategic organizational initiatives for the improvement of site-wide performance objectives.

  • Oversee key financial areas such as general ledger accounting, fixed assets, payroll, accounts payable, etc.

  • Responsible and accountable for SGO\xe2\x80\x99s financial systems, Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) control environment and financial and performance reporting in compliance with US GAAP and corporate policies.

  • Coordination, preparation and review of monthly reports, cost reports, external quarterly financial statements, performance metrics and analysis of variances to be used for US GAAP reporting and statutory financial statement submission.

  • Preparation and coordination with SGO Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on annual budget, forecast and strategic business plans. With follow up budget to actual comparison and forecasting as a part of the SSR 12 month rolling forecast process

  • Maintenance of and enhancement of a strong activity-based costing framework.

  • Strong communication with SGO SLT and other internal stakeholders regarding financial performance, cost performance and KPIs.

  • Strong communication with corporate team and adherence to SSR standards, policies, and internal controls.

  • Maintain a structured and robust monthly close process to ensure all information is verified and entered in the accounting system based on policies and US GAAP accounting standards.

  • Attract and retain a strong team aligned to deliver the site strategy.

  • FX translation of foreign subsidiaries.

  • Lead the development and implementation of new initiatives to improve processes that fall under the remit of the Finance Manager and work collectively with other functional leaders toward improving their processes for the best overall outcome for SSR.

  • Ensure best practice methods are maintained and benchmarked against other operations, internal and external.

  • Provide safety and environmental leadership by always setting the example, inspiring our safety vision, challenging the processes, speaking up, empowering the workforce, and celebrating our successes.

  • Overall people, administrative and safety leadership for the Saskatoon office.

  • Ensure the safety of all employees and contractors working within the Saskatoon office.


Your Knowledge and Skills:

  • Direct leadership of a team of multi-discipline professionals.

  • Knowledge and competency regarding financial reporting, preferably under US GAAP and in the mining industry

  • Business partnering skills with cross-functional teams located at site and in the Corporate office.

  • Strong understanding of accounting/financial procedures and administration and office management.

  • Experience leading a team that adheres to a strong internal control environment and seeks to improve the knowledge and efficiency of all stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of economic, budgeting, and accounting principles, compliance, and practices.

  • Team player with a strong inclination towards developing co-operative solutions and in interest in developing future leaders on the team.

  • Individual can prioritize effectively, work within strict deadlines and align individual work with the organization\xe2\x80\x99s business objectives.


Your Education and Experience:
The successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum of a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Business, majoring in accounting and/or finance, with a professional accounting designation preferred.

  • 10-15 years related accounting and general office experience required.

  • Experience in cost and financial accounting disciplines.

  • Experience in the mining industry or in a similar role within the resources sector considered an asset.

  • Significant ERP and accounting system experience, SAP is helpful.

  • Experience with leading a team through a system conversion is a plus.


About Our Working Conditions:
This position is based out of the Saskatoon office on a Monday to Friday work week. You will be expected to work 8 hours per day. You will also be expected to spend time at the Seabee Gold Operation mine site on at least a quarterly basis.
