Job Description

A well-respected Robert Half client is seeking a Finance Manager to join the company for an interim opportunity. Join our team on a contract basis, where you will be working closely with management in various business groups to provide the required financial information, analysis, and advice in order to make financially sound decisions. In addition, the Finance Manager will be tasked with the responsibility of articulating the financial results at the end of each reporting period and for each planning cycle. This role is on site in the KW area, and background in Non for Profit or Healthcare is a must

What you get to do every day

Oversee all aspects of accounting; billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, inventory accounting, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses.

Maintain documented system of accounting policies and operations, enforces internal controls, recommend policy changes where appropriat

Oversee payments of all accounts; ensuring all accounts are paid on time and discounts taken when available

Process accounts and collecting payments

Oversee all payments made for debts, bank loans, and general compliance with all covenants and banking obligations.

Monitor cash and funding balances, reconciles bank accounts daily, recommends action where necessary (funding or investing)

Keep an organized filing system of all accounts, statements, transactions, payments, and debts, performs detailed account analysis of all balance sheet accounts, follow-up on all issues identified

Prepare, analysis and organize financial data, report on any issues immediately or resolve directly. Escalate to Director where appropriate

Prepare daily/weekly/ quarterly/annual financial reports (including dashboards), provide detailed analysis on key accounts/variances follow-up on all issues raised to ensure overall compliance

Support the Director in the preparation of quarterly/annual budgets and forecasts

Working with the Director effectively communicate the results to the company stakeholders in a proactive manner

Advise on financial analyses and decision-making regarding capital investments, pricing, contract negotiations, significant costs, benchmarks, and other matters with management and chief financial officer and takes corrective action

Organize information and statements for audits Define, benchmark and implement operational best practices supporting the strategic goals of the business Perform any special analysis on data as required including supporting business unit requirements

Complying with all local, provincial and federal laws regarding finances, tax filings (HST/GST etc), and reporting

Ensures operation of all company assets is per policy and all steps taken to protect the assets including maintenance

Maintains a tax efficient strategy in compliance with all laws and corporate strategy

Conducts inventory counts and reconciles to accounting records

Five years general accounting experience in a fast pact accounting department, ideally a CPA or nearing completion. You welcome change. Strong problem solving and analytical skills, coupled with attention to detail and an excellent communicator. Experience managing staff. Adherence to deadlines is essential as well as knowledge of Financial Software, Human Resource Management, Budget preparation, dashboard preparation. You are proactive and comfortable interacting with all members of the organization.
