How will you contribute?
As an Administrative Assistant in the Office of the Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel, you will help the team by performing a variety of tasks including managing and prioritizing competing demands in a fast-paced, results-focused environment. Your passion for excellence and quality of service must be second to none. The successful incumbent will bring expertise in a broad range of administrative areas such as drafting documents, maintaining and organizing files, scheduling meetings, responding to inquiries and other general administrative duties. Open to
The general public to staff one (1) determinate full-time position in the Office of the Law Clerk and Parliamentary Counsel for a period of twelve (12) months.

This selection process may be used to staff determinate or indeterminate positions at the same level with similar requirements.

Prerequisites

  • Completed a post-secondary education in business administration, office administration, paralegal studies or a combination of relevant education and work experience. A legal assistant or paralegal degree, diploma or certificate will be considered an asset;
  • Experience providing administrative support in an office environment offering services such as writing formal correspondence, briefing materials, formatting documents, scheduling meetings and managing paper and electronic filing systems;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both official languages;
  • Excellent computer skills and experience using MS Office products;
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with people from across the organization;
  • Ability to coordinate a high volume of activities and multi-task competing priorities;
  • Experience working in a legal environment and knowledge of the Senate and the Canadian parliamentary system will be considered an asset.
