What can I expect to do in this role?

  • Consult with event participants and stakeholders to assess needs and priorities
  • Offer comprehensive event planning and management services including the coordination of logistics, resource allocation, knowledge of facilities, equipment, technology support, presentation materials, catering, and client relations
  • Provide strategic expert advice on event preparation and operational policies
  • Consider the integration of services for single and multiple concurrent high-profile events
  • Manage events involving VIP visitors/attendees, including elected government officials, international diplomats, and prominent business executives
  • Provide comprehensive audio-visual (AV) services for in-person, virtual, and hybrid events
  • Delegate responsibilities and oversee Client Services Representatives (CSRs), while also coordinating and overseeing on-site activities performed by contracted vendors
  • Analyze event plans to calculate vendor and client invoices
  • Plan and coordinate marketing activities to showcase Ontario as an attractive investment destination to international investors.
  • Research and develop Ontario Investment Trade Centre (OITC) operational policies, procedures, and other written materials
  • Research industry best practices in client service and presentation technology to maintain the quality and competitiveness of OITC client service and facilities, as a showroom to market Ontario


How do I qualify?

Event Management, Marketing, and Promotion Skills

You have:
  • Exceptional client relationship management skills to cultivate strong partnerships, understand client needs, and deliver innovative solutions as the liaison with the client
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of marketing, promotion, and event management, to plan and organize special events, presentations, and meetings in person or virtually
  • The ability to install, dismantle, and troubleshoot a variety of equipment
  • Expertise in AV equipment, including remote controllers, lighting, video conferencing, screens, speakers, and network connectivity, for installation, technical support, and troubleshooting of virtual/hybrid events


Interpersonal and Communication Skills

You have:
  • Knowledge of international business practices, cultural nuances, and communication etiquette to effectively engage with clients from diverse backgrounds
  • A proven ability to thrive in high-pressure, fast-paced service environments while consistently delivering top-notch service to international clients
  • High-level communication skills to effectively market the Centre\'s services to diverse stakeholders, understanding their specific requirements for upcoming in-person, virtual, or hybrid events and recommending applicable OITC services


Administrative Knowledge

You have:
  • Knowledge of organizational procurement policies, vendor contract management, and Requests for Proposals (RFP),
  • An ability to apply organizational policies, directives, and guidelines to research and develop OITC operational policies, procedures, and other written materials
  • Financial administration skills to maintain accounts, administer fees for service, detail review of event plans and vendor invoices to determine the amounts to be charged back to clients and stakeholders
  • Knowledge of project management processes to undertake projects, develop project plans and schedules, monitor progress, and produce reports


Political Acuity, Leadership, and Relationship Management

You can:
  • Demonstrate political acuity, leadership, and strong relationship management skills to foster collaboration with clients, staff, vendors, and stakeholders
  • Provide valuable recommendations on OITC client programs and services, while effectively prioritizing and resolving any client service issues that may arise
