About this Opportunity A Water Management Coordinator is a member of the Water Management Team, whose mission is to develop cost effective short-term water management plans and long-term strategies that are environmentally sustainable and regulatory compliant to support Paramount\'s unconventional resource development plans. The Water Management Coordinator is responsible for providing project management oversight for water-related projects which can include the design and operation of water transfer infrastructure, water reservoir construction or maintenance and both short-term & long-term license applications. The Team also evaluates potential water treatment solutions for high volume flowback and produced water reuse opportunities. Reporting to the Supervisor, Completions Engineering & Water Management, the primary responsibility of this position will be planning of water transfer activities and managing daily operations related to the needs of Paramount\xe2\x80\x99s Completion operations. The candidate will work with internal stakeholders and external service providers to deliver a cost-effective water solution, while meeting all regulatory requirements. This position also supports the short-term needs of other water users within Paramount.


Job functions will involve:

  • Office-based supervision of water transfer operations and water construction projects, with periodic field visits in support of HSE and field operations
  • Management of water projects to support well completion or reservoir re-fill activities, including regulatory approvals, data collection & reporting
  • Evaluation of water sourcing, transportation, and storage strategies to support completion activities, identify supply/demand risks and plan water transfer scheduling
  • Overseeing implementation of Paramount\xe2\x80\x99s Health, Safety and Environmental program for water operations
  • Procurement of services for water supply operations
  • Monitoring service supplier compliance with AER regulations, water license conditions, Paramount policies, and Workplace Health & Safety
  • Water supply cost management including budgeting, cost estimating, daily cost tracking & invoice approvals
  • Managing of Paramount\xe2\x80\x99s water storage infrastructure including administration of maintenance plans and inspections
  • Working with multidisciplinary teams to survey and acquire access for water supply projects
  • Communication with Energy Regulator on water projects; approvals, inspections, and water licensing
  • Assisting in tracking and reporting water usage to the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) & British Columbia Energy Regulator (BCER) on active TDLs, Term Licenses, Section 10, Conditional Licenses and requirements post hydraulic fracturing operations
  • Investigation and implementation of new technology, where appropriate
  • Communication with stakeholders regarding water operations
  • Providing input into the location, construction, and design of water storage reservoirs
  • Other duties as required



Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • BSc degree in Engineering or Environmental studies, or a related technical diploma
  • A minimum of 5 years of Water Transfer Operations experience and 5-8 years of related oil and gas industry experience including one or more of; Completions Engineering, Water Management, Environmental Specialist
  • An understanding of the Alberta Water Act policy & AER regulations on water sourcing, storage, reuse, transport, and disposal
  • Knowledge or previous experience in British Columbia, relating to water legislation & BCER regulations/reporting, is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including scheduling and cost tracking
  • Collaboration and effective communication experience with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize
  • Strong Leadership skills and a commitment to Environment, Health and Safety is required
  • Experience in the Alberta Montney and/or Duvernay unconventional plays is considered an asset
