Our mission is to engage, inspire, and maximize opportunities for people with disabilities of all ages by providing meaningful programs and services We are seeking an Employment Program Coordinator to join our Employment and Educational Services Department. Under the direction of the Director of
Employment & Educational Services the Employment Program Coordinator will work in a team environment along side of the Employment Program Officer.
Together they will deliver a Youth Employment and Skills Strategy (YESS)
Program funded by Service Canada and RBC\xe2\x80\x99s 21st Century Skills and
Leadership Program. Duties:

  • Assist in the delivery of all aspects of an employment program for 10+ individuals who are facing barriers to employment.
  • Promote, recruit and interview participants to obtain employment history, educational background, career goals and suitability to take part.
  • Provide career advice and assist with the development of an individualized employment action plan.
  • Participate in classroom management and one-on-one participant interventions.
  • Edit/create resumes and cover letters for participants.
  • Collect labour market information for participants regarding job openings, entry and skill requirements and other occupational information.
  • Secure an employment opportunity for each participant based on their skills, interests and abilities.
  • Collaborate with employers to develop inclusive positions.
  • Identify needs for disability related supports and/or assistive technology.
  • Accompany participants to job interviews and first shifts, as required.
  • Refer participants to other community service providers for appropriate services.
  • Site visits to participant\xe2\x80\x99s workplace for activity progress reports.
  • Writing and submission of online quarterly reports.
  • Promote the program and prepare social media stories.

Background:
  • A minimum of (1) year post secondary education in related field to working with youth and/or youth with disabilities. (For example: Teaching, Social Services or related area) Certification or completion of courses from Career Professionals of Canada (CPA) is not required but would be an asset.
ASSETS:
  • Experience delivering employment programs.
  • Understanding of employment barriers facing youth with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of the not for profit sector, especially in the area of program delivery.
  • Knowledge of various disabilities.
  • Experience working with youth and/or youth with disabilities.
  • Experience with current hiring trends and facilitating groups.
  • Own vehicle or readily able to access transportation.
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
