About Us
Options Employment Outreach Inc. is a not-for-profit organization based in Saint John that provides one-on-one employment counselling for adults with disabilities. We support individuals with a wide range of barriers, including physical, sensory, mental health, and learning disabilities, through personalized services such as career planning, skill development, job search support, and employment maintenance.
A member agency of avenueNB, we also assist clients navigating transitions to and from post-secondary education and work closely with community and government partners to promote inclusive employment.
About the Role
We are seeking an Employment Counsellor for a one-year maternity leave position. This is a dynamic and people-focused role supporting clients with disabilities as they identify and pursue employment goals and/or post secondary education. You'll work one-on-one with individuals to develop action plans, provide job search coaching, identify training or educational pathways, and facilitate employer connections.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct intake assessments and collaboratively develop employment action plans.
Provide employment readiness training and job search support (resumes, cover letters, interview prep).
Support clients in accessing funding, training programs, and workplace accommodations.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with employers, advocating for inclusive hiring.
Coordinate job matching and follow-up supports to ensure successful employment outcomes.
Maintain accurate case management notes and data entry using program-specific tools.
Stay informed about local labour market trends, disability supports, and community resources.
Represent Options in community meetings and on inter-agency committees as needed.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
Degree in Social Sciences or related field, or a Community College diploma in Social Sciences with a minimum of 2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and/or 6 years of work experience in the disability sector will be considered
Experience supporting individuals with disabilities in employment or education settings
Professional development or lived experience related to career development, disability services, or employment counselling is considered an asset
Knowledge & Technical Skills
Familiarity with the regional labour market and its relevance to clients with disabilities
Knowledge of standardized career assessment tools
Ability to assess individual needs and provide/teach job search techniques and methods including resume writing, cover letters, interview preparation, and navigating job banks
Understanding of disability supports such as workplace accommodations and assistive technology
Knowledge of provincial employment programs, post-secondary transition supports, and funding opportunities
Skilled in Microsoft Office and comfortable using online systems or databases for client management and reporting
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including group facilitation and networking
Other Requirements & Assets
Ability to build and maintain relationships with employers, educational institutions, and community organizations
Valid driver's license or reliable transportation for occasional local travel
Criminal record check required
Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset
Commitment to the ethical standards of the Canadian Standards and Guidelines for Career Development Practitioners
