The Gaming Division ensures gambling in Nova Scotia is socially responsible while making reasonable profits for the Government. In performing this role, staff oversee the gaming operators, Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC) and Casino Nova Scotia (CNS), who carry out the day-to-day business. The Government, and ultimately the people of Nova Scotia, are the shareholders and owners of the industry.

About Our Opportunity

This position reports to the Executive Director, Gaming, and has three direct reports.

The Director, Gaming Operations is responsible for the conduct and manage functions related to lottery and casino operations; and coaching and leading the daily activities of the Gaming Operations team. They provide direction to gaming operators to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and gaming policy, and that contractual requirements, annual business plan commitments, and budgets are achieved.

Primary Accountabilities

Some of the specific responsibilities in this role include:

  • Ensuring the effective management of human and financial resources.
  • Achieving operating and financial targets, while managing risk.
  • Ensuring legislative and contractual compliance.
  • Contributing to sound decision making through input, guidance, and direction.
  • Developing strategic projects in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Promoting a sustainable regulated gaming industry.
About You

As the ideal candidate, you have a university degree in business and a minimum of five (5) years of related experience. This includes extensive experience in project management and involvement in one or a combination of contract negotiation or management, financial management, business planning or strategic planning. An acceptable equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

You are results oriented and well organized, capable of managing multiple priorities. Your excellent analytical skills enable you to solve problems and make sound business decisions.

You are a strong written and verbal communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, who interacts effectively with a variety of stakeholders and positively influences relationships. Your leadership skills have fostered high-performing teams and led to proven success in achieving results through others.

You possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Gaming industry knowledge would be an asset.

Successful completion of a security clearance application process will be required as a condition of your employment.

Working Conditions

Most of your time is spent in a comfortable office setting. The normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day.

Salary Range: $4,309.95 - $5,387.44 Bi-Weekly
