DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Salary range: $35,000-40,000/year (pro-rated to 10-month contract)
20 hours per week

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Amadeus Choir is seeking an experienced arts administrator to join our team as Director of Operations.

We are a small team of highly-motivated staff and volunteers who are passionate about the way choral music brings people together. The Director of Operations will work closely with the Executive Director, the artistic team, marketing staff, lead volunteers, and board. The ideal candidate for this position will have the ability to be a leader in a small not-for-profit context, to inspire and motivate a team of volunteers, to remain calm and kind under pressure, and to use technology with ease. This position requires strong leadership and interpersonal skills, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for the arts. The position may evolve into a larger leadership role within the organization in future seasons.

The Director of Operations will attend every choir rehearsal and event and take a leadership role in shaping the member and audience experience. The choir rehearses every Tuesday evening from September to mid-June and presents five self-presented concerts per season in addition to guest performances. In-person work requirements will increase closer to concert dates, though most hours will be flexible and remote. A laptop computer is provided. A driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and access to a vehicle is strongly preferred.

Requirements: RESPONSIBILITIES

Event Production

  • Create and track workback schedules for all concerts, fundraising events, educational workshops, guest appearances, podcasts, and other events
  • Act as stage manager at performances
  • Set-up archival filming/recording equipment and edit footage for later release
  • Assist with contracting guest artists, venues, videographers, and other vendors
Choir Operations
  • Manage the choir member experience from audition to registration and attendance
  • Lead set-up for each rehearsal including live-stream equipment
  • Manage the accommodation of members\xe2\x80\x99 accessibility needs
Volunteer Management
  • Inspire and encourage members of the community to volunteer
  • Attend volunteer committee meetings and integrate volunteer tasks into master timelines
Equipment Management
  • Transport equipment between choir office, rehearsal, and performance locations
  • Maintain up-to-date location information of all Amadeus property including risers and AV equipment
Organizational Development
  • Review current systems and processes and suggest improvements
  • Set and track individual tasks alongside big-picture organizational goals and priorities
  • Get to know important community supporters; recognize and welcome them at choir events
  • Provide regular updates to the Board, and attend relevant committee and board meetings
  • Act as a partner for ED in leading the administration of the organization
WHAT WE\xe2\x80\x99RE LOOKING FOR
  • A collaborative and community-oriented attitude

  • Great writing skills and the ability to communicate information clearly and concisely
  • A systems-minded approach
  • Knowledge of the performing arts (knowledge of the choral/vocal discipline is a bonus!)
  • The ability to stay calm and effective under time constraint (eg. a performance day)
  • Familiarity with operation of video and audio recording equipment and basic editing skills.
  • Experience in live event/concert production including the creation of production schedules, budgets, and managing a team
  • Experience managing volunteers
  • Physical location in Metro Toronto Area
  • Driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and access to a vehicle
  • Proficiency in: CRM usage, Google Suite, Slack, Zoom, Monday.com, Excel, Adobe Suite, and willingness to learn other software as needed.
