About Our Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Department of Finance and Treasury Board is seeking an experienced professional to lead its Gaming Division. Reporting to the Deputy Minister, the Executive Director is accountable for providing strategic leadership to facilitate socially responsible and economically sustainable gaming activities in Nova Scotia. The Executive Director is accountable for leadership of research, analysis, and development of policy recommendations related to Atlantic Lottery Corporation (ALC), as well as administration of gaming operations led by the Gaming Division.

Primary Accountabilities

Some of the key responsibilities in this role include:

  • Manage the staff and finances within the Gaming Division through effective divisional planning, team building, individual performance management and delegation.
  • Fosters a sustainable gaming business by fully integrating social responsibility into business strategies and specific initiatives.
  • Build and manage intergovernmental and interdepartmental networks and linkages at both the national and provincial levels to leverage opportunities for innovative partnerships and working relationships with other jurisdictions to ensure Nova Scotia interests and positions on gaming are protected and advanced.
  • Ensures operator alignment with strategy and Nova Scotia\'s gaming policy by providing clear, timely strategic and operational direction to Atlantic Lottery (ALC) and overseeing gaming operating contracts.
About You

This may be the right opportunity for you if you have a university degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Business Administration, Accounting, Law, Finance,) along with seven years of related experience; or a Masters/post-graduate designation in a relevant discipline. You will have several years of progressive leadership experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a professional/ management role. An acceptable equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

As the ideal candidate you possess a specialized knowledge of the Gaming Industry and social responsibility, with a demonstrated history of providing solutions and alternatives to complex issues. Drawing on previous experiences, with a proven ability to accomplish goals and objectives, you balance priorities, meet deadlines, balance conflicting views and achieve specific and accurate outcomes.

You possess exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) with a proven ability to build and maintain relationships. You have a strong attention to detail, with a demonstrated history of providing accurate information and sound advice.

You are a highly motivated self-starter with the ability to build strong and collaborative team dynamics and look strategically forward on issues. Strong presentation skills are essential to tailor deliverables for both technical and non-technical audiences and you have a familiarity of socially responsible gaming.

Pay Grade: EC 15

Salary Range: $4,740.95 - $5,926.16 Bi-Weekly
