We\'re looking for a digital marketing and performance expert to join our Digital Planning + Optimization team. The Director, Digital Planning + Optimization will play a key role in leading the ongoing development of our digital media offering at the agency, where we look for opportunities to add value to our clients through paid social, programmatic, search, SEO, and other emerging channels. This role will be responsible for strategizing, planning, implementing, optimizing, and reporting on digital paid media campaigns for our clients. We are looking for expertise and experience in managing a diverse portfolio of paid campaigns and a candidate that understands how the latest trends in digital planning can drive scale, engagement, and growth for our clients, all with a PR lens.

Based in Toronto and reporting to the VP, Lead Content + Publishing, Digital Planning, this position will have a national role within our Innovation + Creative Hub, working closely with our practice teams and consultants across Canada to execute digital paid media daily while refining and improving existing media buying processes. They will be responsible for supporting a range of clients and sectors - such as Consumer, Health, Tech, Public Affairs, and Energy - with a variety of objectives.

The role is perfect for a digital marketing native; someone who has 6-8 years\' experience working hands-on with digital advertising platforms - Particularly Meta, LinkedIn, Google Ads, and DSPs - But also not afraid to experiment with new channels such as TikTok, Spotify, and Connected TV. Here\'s what you\'ll be doing:

You will be responsible for supporting our sector teams and clients throughout the end-to-end campaign management process, including:

  • Proactively identifying opportunities for paid media support to add value to clients
  • Receiving client briefs and understanding the central challenge/opportunity and how paid media can complement or enhance other channels such as organic social, earned media, or influencer marketing work cross-functionally with account management teams to align campaign strategies and goals
  • Analyzing existing data from previous campaigns, social, search, web analytics, and audience insight platforms to inform the paid media strategy
  • Moving from strategy to planning - developing and presenting media plans and forecasts for both sector teams and clients
  • Managing campaign creation, set-up process, and delivery
  • Liaise with content and design teams and assist in the development of effective ad creative that is optimized for each channel from a specs/ad unit standpoint
  • Ongoing monitoring, analysis and optimization of paid campaigns to ensure maximum ad spend ROI
  • Reporting and campaign evaluation, including an emphasis on providing clients with actionable insights
  • Budget reconciliation and financial management with the support of our internal admin, AP and billing teams
  • Actively promoting paid media tactics and thought leadership internally. Bring insights and ideas to support wider paid media activities across all sectors including business development
  • Collaborating with other H+K DP+O colleagues globally and building strong partnerships with vendors to maintain knowledge of industry best practices, new technologies, and emerging channels
What you\'ll need to get here:
  • 6-8 years+ of hands-on experience setting up, managing, and optimizing digital media campaigns for brands or organizations
  • Agency-side experience is preferable, but in-house experience is also valuable
  • In-depth experience managing paid campaigns on social and digital platforms - Specifically Meta, LinkedIn, Twitter, Google Ads, and DSPs. Experience on emerging social ads platforms such as TikTok, Pinterest and others also an asset
  • One or more industry-recognized paid social qualifications - for example, Facebook Blueprint certification or Google Ads certification
  • Working knowledge of setting up website/conversions tracking, remarketing pixels, and SEO best practices. Familiarity with Google Analytics/Tags and SEO/keywords tools is preferred
  • High attention to detail and able to keep track of a diverse portfolio of clients and campaigns
  • Experience delivering client service excellence, comfortable presenting at pitches, and contributing to overall business development of the firm
  • Experience with public affairs and managing digital advocacy campaigns is an asset
