OceanaGold are seeking a high quality Director, Business Development to join the team at the corporate office in Vancouver BC. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Business Development and Investor Relations, the successful candidate will play an integral role in all aspects of developing the strategy, monitoring, engaging, and executing business development (i.e. early-stage options; joint ventures; portfolio optimization, acquisitions) opportunities in support of OceanaGold\xe2\x80\x99s growth strategy. Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of the corporate strategy for the executive team and board
  • Assist in identifying, monitoring, and evaluating target assets and companies for early-stage entry, joint venturing and/or acquisition opportunities
  • Build, maintain and present detailed financial analysis and valuation modelling of metals and mining assets
  • Participate in the preparation and presentation of board and executive material in support of business development initiatives
  • Play a leading role in facilitating technical and financial due diligence and site visits for business development opportunities
  • Develop relationships with external parties including mining companies and investment bankers to facilitate transaction opportunities (including travel to relevant industry conferences)
  • Coordinate drafting, executing and document management of relevant legal agreements
  • Oversee information data sites and internal databases relating to business development opportunities
  • Provide detailed company or industry specific research for presentation to the executive team and board of directors
  • Lead business development contributions to corporate reports such as annual reports, sustainability reports, annual information form, etc.
  • Conduct internal financial analysis to determine the company\xe2\x80\x99s understanding of its value proposition, market surveillance, peer benchmarking, analyst consensus, etc.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide support and assistance to the investor relations function on an as needed basis
  • Offer mentorship and support for junior members of business development team


Qualifications
  • Minimum of 7-10 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience as a professional or equivalent experience in business development or capital markets
  • Undergraduate degree in Commerce, Finance, Engineering or Geology or equivalent. MBA, CFA, CPA or equivalent designation preferred but not required
  • Experience in metals and mining industry
  • Excellent business communication (verbal and written) skills
  • A high degree of drive, professionalism and business acumen
  • Excellent Proficiency with Microsoft products including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Emphasis on quality and relevance of information and analysis with strong attention to detail
  • Collaborative working style, building strong internal and external relationships to facilitate the accurate and timely flow of information and supporting analysis
  • Ability to work harmoniously and sensitively in cross-cultural environments
  • Ability to engage constructively and influence at all levels, internally and externally
