Job Title Director, Business Development - Vancouver Lower Mainland




































What is the opportunity? In this acquisition focused role, you develop and execute plans to increase RBC\xe2\x80\x99s market share through attracting and fully anchoring new clients across the enterprise. You work closely with market contacts and RBC partners to identify opportunities to provide advice and recommendations. Your ability to maintain awareness of local market conditions and the competitive environment, while pursuing opportunities aligned to the bank\xe2\x80\x99s risk appetite, will lead to your success in this role. This role will be based in Coquitlam, however mobility within the Lower Mainland will be required. What will you do?

  • Acquire new-to-RBC commercial clients primarily focused on Senior Commercial Markets (but may include Mid-Market Commercial, Corporate Client Group or Business Markets) and partner with the RBC team to deliver customized advice and solutions tailored to meet client needs
  • Work with the Commercial Vice President, Commercial Relationship Manager and the broader Client Relationship Team to ensure client introductions are well managed to meet business and business owner needs resulting in a very positive, holistic, client experience
  • Develop and foster external business referral sources through networking, your centres of influence, and active engagement in market activities
  • Collaborate with peers and colleagues to continuously elevate business development capabilities both personally and throughout a team of advisors
  • Constantly plan and deliver internal and external industry relevant seminars and events in collaboration with RBC partners to continuously strengthen market presence and become a recognized expert
What do you need to succeed? Must-have
  • Minimum 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in client facing roles, working in a commercial banking environment
  • Proven client acquisition skills including experience in cold calling, presentation skills, networking, and relationship building
  • Strong financial acumen and experience in conducting financial and risk analysis and structuring of banking solutions to meet client needs with varying levels of complexity
  • A solid network resulting in referrals, new clients, and increased business opportunities
  • Ability to cultivate strong partner relationships
  • A passion for mentoring and developing others
Nice to have
  • MBA, and/or Accounting or Finance designation such as CFA, CPA
  • Specialized industry or client segment expertise
