Position Overview:
We are looking for a drafting and design leader to help us bridge the gap between design and production. If you have a strong background in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Autodesk Inventor and are passionate about improving technical systems, this is an exciting opportunity to make a major impact.
Key Responsibilities
Bridge the gap between drafting and production by developing efficient CAD workflows tailored to each manufacturing division.
Lead implementation and optimization of Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and SketchUp across the drafting team.
Build a standardized drafting system that accounts for division-specific needs (construction-grade stairs, finished stairs, railing systems, and mouldings).
Support day-to-day drafting tasks, including drawing packages for construction-grade stairs.
Collaborate with production teams to ensure design intent is achievable on the shop floor.
Identify and resolve drafting bottlenecks to improve speed and accuracy of outputs.
Maintain drafting libraries and templates in line with evolving product and manufacturing standards.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to drafting, design, and production integration.
Develop and manage a structured design database in Autodesk Inventor/Sketchup to support modular drafting, streamline BOM generation, and create CNC-ready output files aligned with production workflows.
Qualifications
Experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Autodesk Inventor is required.
Background in drafting, design technology, or architectural technology -- diploma or equivalent experience preferred.
Strong understanding of manufacturing or construction workflows, especially in stair and railing systems, is an asset.
Ability to build and manage drafting systems that improve output speed and quality.
Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills -- able to translate feedback from production into practical drafting solutions.
Self-driven and adaptable with a desire to lead technical development in a growing company.
Familiarity with ERP systems or CAD-to-production automation is an asset.
