Summit Start Cityscape Daycare, is a leading 24-hour childcare facility that currently serves 200 families (and growing!) and employs over 60 dedicated staff members. Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children to grow, learn, and thrive--day or night.


We are seeking a

passionate and experienced Daycare Director

to lead our exceptional team and uphold the highest standards of care and education.

About the Role




The Daycare Director is a key leadership role, and your team will rely on you to be a total rockstar! You will oversee all operations of our dynamic 24-hour childcare center. You will be responsible for managing staff, ensuring compliance with licensing regulations, ensuring curriculum implementation, and fostering positive and meaningful relationships with families. Your leadership will shape the environment that supports children's development and ensures the well-being of our team.

Key Responsibilities




Leadership & Management:

Lead and inspire a team of 60+ staff, including ECE teachers, support staff, and administrators. This is a big team, so a hands-on and collaborative approach to training and mentoring is a must! You will be working directly with the staff and children on a daily basis (this is not a desk job, so roll up your sleeves!). Work culture is everything! Along with fostering a great work environment, you will recruit, train, and retain top-tier childcare professionals as well as develop and implement staff schedules to ensure proper coverage at all hours. And don't forget staff events!

Childcare Program Oversight:

Ensure the delivery of high-quality care and education across multiple age groups. Summit Start Cityscape uses Emergent Curriculum to support the development and growth of the children in our care. Maintain an inclusive, culturally sensitive, and engaging environment for all children.

Operational Excellence:

Monitor and ensure compliance with all licensing, safety & health regulations. Manage budgets, resources, and expenses for the facility. Regularly inspect the facility to ensure it meets health, safety, and cleanliness standards. Ensure that toys, materials, furniture and the spaces are kept in pristine condition and that any repairs needed or broken items are addressed immediately.

Business Management:

Drive the daycare enrollment/utilization to meet growth targets. Monitor seasonal and annual enrollment trends and strategize to ensure consistent high enrollment. Identify opportunities for growth and manage classrooms to maximize utilization in each age group. Be resilient, creative and collaborative to find ways to lead the center to success.

Family & Community Engagement:

Build and maintain strong relationships with families, addressing their concerns promptly and professionally. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians through regular updates, meetings, events, and other communication lines. Represent the center in community outreach and partnerships to foster support and growth.

Qualifications



Early Childhood Education Diploma (or equivalent).

Must hold Alberta ECE Level 3 certification.

Valid Standard First Aid with CPR Level B or C Certification. Clear & Valid Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector obtained within the last 6 months. Ability to work exceptionally well in teams

Experience



Minimum of 5 years of childcare management or related leadership experience.

Experience managing large teams and a multi-age childcare program is highly preferred.

Skills



Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Sound decision-making and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency with computers and childcare management systems. In-depth knowledge of childcare licensing regulations and compliance. Financial and budget management experience.
