Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Business Operations, the Data Analyst, Facilities Information is responsible for the development and maintenance of business-related internal controls as it relates to data (collection, consolidation, organization), documents, processes, procedures, and analysis of the data developed in, and/or used by Physical Resources. The incumbent ensures that timely, accurate, and relevant data is analyzed, available and accessible to PR management and staff (as required). The position will draw on data from a very wide range of specialized systems and sources to develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.

The Analyst will be responsible for scrutinizing data and reporting on Physical Resources activities. Under the direction of the Director, Business Operations, the Analyst gathers data from Physical Resources processes and information systems and provides accurate and timely reporting to support decision making. The Analyst will liaise between all departments in Physical Resources, working collaboratively to ensure that business processes are created or optimized, while also maintaining Physical Resources data systems. This position will develop visual metrics/dashboards and comprehensive reports to optimize data gathering and reporting. The Analyst supports the assessment and development of internal and external presentations and communications.

Requirements of this position include: a Masters degree in: Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics, Computer and Data Analytics, or Information Systems is a required, combined preferably with a minor in business. The incumbent must have a minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of experience in data analysis and reporting including working with large data sets, data visualization and statistical measures or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Further requirements include advanced knowledge of excel and common data formats; data structures and SQL queries; key statistical concepts; knowledge of system analysis, data storage and information retrieval techniques as well as diverse methodologies to get insight from the data. Ability to identify and deal with data anomalies and proven attention to detail.

Preferred requirements include previous work experience using a computerized maintenance management system; developing and implementing data analyses, data collection systems, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency while ensuring quality; experience building visual presentations and dashboards.

We require a team player with excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication (both oral and written) skills. The successful candidate must be proficient in Excel and SQL. Previous work experience in an academic environment institution and experience using Tableau would be an asset.
