Position Title Communications Specialist
Required Qualifications

  • 2-year diploma or bachelor\'s degree in the areas of marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, and/or website content management or an equivalent combination of qualifications acceptable by the employer.
  • Minimum 5 years experience writing in a professional capacity along with 3 years experience working with web content management system (CMS).
  • Search Engine Optimization experience, understanding of digital marketing/web analytics.
  • Ability to work with internal clients and various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Impeccable proofreading and editing skills, and writing experience in various formats including writing for the web and social media, news releases, speeches, and stories.
  • Well versed in popular social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
  • Coach other Keyano staff to create web content.
  • Familiarity with School Messenger considered an asset.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Exceptional Writing Skills
  • Knowledge of Alberta\'s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) legislation; formal FOIP training an added bonus.
  • Accreditation with the Canadian Public Relations Society or the International Association of Business Communicators.

As a Communications Specialist you will be crafting cutting-edge communication strategies for our website alongside department faculties. With your leaders mentorship, you will be promoting our top-notch programs and services to engage and captivate our audience.

Embark on a thrilling journey with these key responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Engaging with various departments to ensure web content is current and relevant.
  • Taking the lead role in the scheduling and production of the content for Keyano.ca.
  • Researching writing and editing internal and external news releases, \xe2\x80\x9cgood news\xe2\x80\x9d stories, speeches, content for publications and the weekly internal newsletter, \xe2\x80\x9cGood Morning Keyano\xe2\x80\x9d.
  • Crafting and perfecting content for internal clients, ensuring each word resonates profoundly.
  • Seamlessly collaborating with our creative services team, crafting marketing materials tailored for social media platforms.
