Position summary:
The Communications & Projects Coordinator will work with the Union's staff to: monitor, produce, and distribute TWUC communications; lead the maintenance and any future upgrades to the TWUC website; produce and coordinate publications including the Union's monthly electronic newsletter TWUC Talk and quarterly magazine Write; manage the Union's social media accounts (Facebook & Twitter); monitor and administer electronic mailings; lead the technical support for the Union's webinar series and other events; and lead other projects as required.

The ideal candidate will be a highly organized, process-oriented individual with strong computer, design, and web skills, social media management experience, an interest in writing and publishing, and a commitment to equity work.

Key responsibilities:

  • lead upgrades to the TWUC website as and when needed (working with a website developer);
  • maintain the TWUC website (Drupal platform);
  • produce and coordinate publications including quarterly magazine Write (working with the Editor and Editorial Board) and other materials;
  • manage TWUC's social media accounts (Facebook and Twitter)
  • monitor and manage electronic communications (using Mailchimp and CiviCRM);
  • lead technical support for the Union's webinars including promotion and registration (using Zoom, Eventbrite, Zapier);
  • apply the communications lens to all related TWUC activities;
  • lead other projects as required;
  • track and report on outcomes of initiatives; and
  • as with all TWUC staff positions, sustain and consistently establish equitable practices across the portfolio.
Requirements: The ideal candidate will have:
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Clear, strong, and persuasive written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong design, graphics, and production skills using InDesign (Photoshop experience would be an asset);
  • Strong website skills with experience managing an organizational or business website (Drupal experience would be an asset);
  • Professional social media experience;
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including comfort with spreadsheets;
  • Excellent Zoom skills (experience with Zoom webinars would be an asset);
  • Experience in or familiarity with the publishing sector or larger arts community; and
  • Experience working with CRM software (CiviCRM would be an asset).
Additional Info: Location: Hybrid/Toronto. All employees are provided with an HP laptop connected to Union servers to allow for hybrid work. When in office (460 Richmond Street, Toronto) each employee has their own work space. The office contains printing, copying and mailing tools, equipment, and inventory as well as a larger screen for the Communications Coordinator to assist with design and layout work.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $50,000. Comprehensive health and dental benefits as well as long-term disability insurance after three months employment.

Anticipated Start Date: Mid to late-October 2022
