Compensation Range $5,622.33 - $8,081.00 CAD Monthly
The Compensation Range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position. The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.

Job Summary
Responsible for the development and delivery of a full range of communications strategies and vehicles to support the School of Kinesiology and for the management and execution of important school events. The incumbent will promote the School\xe2\x80\x99s programs, research, activities and services to internal and external communities.

Organizational Status
Reports to the Manager, Finance & Administration.
Liaises regularly with the school\'s faculty, staff and students on communication, other UBC units and local & international communities.

Work Performed:

  • Creates, implements, and coordinates concurrent communications campaigns, ensuring messaging aligns across channels across the school
  • Authors and edits written communications content, while working with faculty and staff to clarify subject matter, objectives, and to secure approvals as required
  • Researches and publishes content for print, web, digital, and internal communications while adhering to UBC style guide and governance standards
  • Listens for and proposes new editorial content, determining parameters through regular discussion with stakeholders, editors, content providers, and designers
  • Assists in developing the internal program communications and team engagement plan
  • Coordinates and assembles content for the School\xe2\x80\x99s bimonthly newsletter.
  • Performs routine content audits on the Program-related websites, editing, archiving, and creating content as required
  • Manages social media channels for programs in order to build a network of followers
  • Supports the communication & marketing of special events within the school such as the Vancouver summer program and the annual awards night.
  • Plans & executes all aspects of Vancouver Summer Program, the Annual awards night including and other important events for the school of Kinesiology but not limited to communications and event coordination
  • Set up, monitor and utilize social media analytics to inform team decision making in social media strategies.

Works under general direction of the Leadership team & Manager, Finance & Administration. Work is reviewed in terms of conformance with established standards and specific objectives.

Supervision Given
Working under general directions, and as a member of the School of Kinesiology. The incumbent exercises resourcefulness in the coordination and delivery of community engagement programs. This position is expected to function within clearly articulated priorities and objectives. Work is reviewed for quality and effectiveness of results.

Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of two years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Supports the delivery of communications strategies designed to facilitate a lifelong relationship with UBC students, alumni, and the on- and off-campus UBC community as a whole. A degree in Kinesiology would be an asset. Applicants should be able to compose correspondence, reports, presentations, and other written materials using clear concise business English. Other skills required for the position include the ability to: listen actively and attentively, and obtain clarification as required; deal with a diverse group of individuals in a calm, courteous, and effective manner; work effectively independently and in a team environment; exercise tact and discretion; effectively plan meetings and events; and gather, record, and organize information. Applicants should have high level photography, video and editing skills, with advance working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Design Suite. Strong knowledge and proficiency with trends in social media and web-based platforms, their analytics and a desire to continually learn and explore best practices in communications e.g. Wordpress, Hootsuite, Facebook, Instagram and twitter.
The successful candidate will be required to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities, communicate in a clear, attentive, and polite manner, and to effectively facilitate groups to achieve appropriate outcomes.
