Chief Financial Officer

They are looking to hire a financial leader to fill the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). PRIMARY PURPOSE

A key member of the Leadership Team, the primary purpose of this role is to plan, direct and control the organization\xe2\x80\x99s overall financial plans and policies along with its accounting practices and manage the relationship with financial institutions and investors. The incumbent is also able to provide overall leadership in the development and execution of the business strategy to drive stronger performance.

This role brings expertise and objectivity to the business and challenges the status quo. The successful incumbent will provide leadership on all major initiatives to maximize value, reduce the cost base and optimize the business model. This role is highly strategic and requires a broad scope of industry, business, and operational knowledge, to create world class strategies, integrated business plans and value adding, sales and operational decisions support.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Key contributor to the design, evaluation, consultation and negotiation of the business strategy and execution priorities to achieve industry leadership, with the ultimate aim of increasing value.
  • Oversee the definition of the business full potential and the pathway from transformation to aspiration.
  • Provide strategic guidance to the President & CEO on financial risks and opportunities using detailed financial modelling and identification of mitigation measures to offset the risks.
  • Develop financial policies, systems, procedures, reporting and framework to provide a complete financial operation service, including planning and analysis, general accounting, financial control, and forecasting.
  • Develop and present operating and capital budgets to CEO for approval, monitor financial results, and expenditures on a regular basis; assess need for mid-course corrections; report results to CEO for executive and Board review.
  • Interpret relevant financial, auditing, and tax legislation and regulations, develop processes and controls for their application and provide advice to CEO and other Leadership Team members on their implementation.
  • Provide detailed research and analysis of financial and cash flow options, collection, utilization and disbursement of funds; report on the impact of those options and make sound recommendations for change where applicable.
  • Assist Business Development & Sales teams develop pricing strategies by conducting necessary analysis of cost ratios, profit margins, cash flow and other relevant data to ensure that satisfactory returns on investment are realized.
  • Head the Risk Management process including identifying, monitoring and managing potential risks \xe2\x80\x93 including security breaches, data/IP loss, cyber-attacks, system failures and natural disasters.
  • Lead the application, development and support of I.T. systems
  • Effectively lead a team of professionals, delegating tasks, defining goals, objectives, priorities and performance standards, communicating feedback on performance, and providing opportunities for professional development.
  • Represent the organization in important external business relationships with investors, clients, suppliers, and government, to build positive brand reputation and secure the commitment of key stakeholders.
  • Provide problem solving leadership in identifying the changes required to business plans and strategies to optimize short and medium term value creation.
QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered for this role, you must have a university degree in Finance or Accounting, a professional designation (CA, CPA) and a minimum of 10+ years\xe2\x80\x99 business experience, of which 7 or more are in a senior management role. In addition, you have proven experience and/or demonstrated the following skillsets:
  • Knowledge of sources of financing, accounting and tax legislation and regulations
  • Intimate knowledge of the beauty, health and pharmaceutical industries, as well as the legal, social, political and cultural environment
  • Recognized skills in strategic business management, innovative and visionary planning, analyzing and decision-making, effective leadership, communications and customer relations
  • Strong track record of originating and closing debt & equity deals, and maintaining a strong network of potential financing sources
  • Strong track record of bringing about organizational change enabled by improvements in financial and management reporting, optimizing technology and operations
  • Proven ability to effectively support sales team, helping to negotiate and close sales through active involvement in managing and optimizing sales pipeline and engagement
  • Comfortable reviewing legal documents
  • Quickly determine key value drivers and opportunities for improving the business thereby increasing value
  • Strong leadership ability with personal credibility capable of effectively interacting with all stakeholders
  • Focused and results-oriented, driven by excellence

  • Effective communicator at all levels
  • Bilingual (English and French)
