About the Company
Our client is a privately run organization in the hospitality industry. They are currently looking for a Capital Controller who will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects related to capital expenditures across the organization. The role will work closely with the construction team, finance department and other stakeholders to ensure effective tracking, control and reporting of capital projects and expenditures. This role will contribute to the successful execution of capital projects.

About the Opportunity
Financial Planning and Budgeting:
  • Collaborate with the construction team to develop comprehensive capital budgets and financial plans for upcoming projects.
  • Regularly review and update these budgets to reflect any changes in project scope or financial conditions.
  • Review and validate capital expenditure requests, ensuring compliance with policies and budgets.
Capital Expenditure Tracking and Reporting:
  • Assist in the development of a robust capital project system to monitor capital expenditures throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of all capital expenditures.
  • Regularly review and reconcile project expenses against approved budgets, identifying and addressing any discrepancies or variances.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including project-specific financial statements, budget performance reports, and investor updates.
  • Manager lender draw requests.
Cash Flow Management:
  • Coordinate with the construction team and finance department to manage cash flows related to capital projects.
  • Monitor project expenses, track funding sources, and ensure proper allocation of funds.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure timely payments
Compliance and Audit:
  • Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements in all capital-related activities.
  • Collaborate with auditors, lenders and other stakeholders to provide the necessary documentation and address any deficiencies related to capital projects.
Team Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including project management and finance, to ensure effective coordination and communication throughout the capital project lifecycle.
  • Provide guidance and support to project managers and stakeholders on financial aspects of capital projects, including cost control and financial performance.

About You
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CMA, CPA) is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of capital expenditure management and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data, perform financial analysis, and provide meaningful recommendations.
  • Proficiency in financial software applications and open to new learning.
  • Knowledge of real estate construction and familiarity with hotel-specific capital projects is a plus.
Salary Range
$130,000-$145,000/year
