Job Description

Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing & Communications, the Thought Leadership & Brand Manager has oversight of the Company's thought leadership and brand management and ensuring messaging remains consistent across all channels. The incumbent is the voice for the Company's public image and maintains it through the implementation of marketing initiatives. This individual has a key leadership role in the strategic development of communications campaigns, strategies, and plans.

QUALIFICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and lead the thought leadership and communications strategy for the firm, including overseeing internal and external communications through multiple channels, including the firm's client newsletter, website, digital, social, e-mail, intranet, and B2B e-marketing initiatives through digital distribution platforms like Mailshake
  • Generate and disseminate thought leadership pieces and content in collaboration with other contributors and continuously evaluate and identify thought leadership opportunities including:
  • Owned reports (i.e., Proxy Season Review) and briefs
  • Social media commentary and article sharing
  • Owned events or external events
  • Develop custom marketing and advertising strategies, creating designs/layouts of media outlets, writing pitches and blog posts to various audiences, and assessing cost associated with branding
  • Manage relationships with influencer journalists or other relevant parties to ensure brand consistency across multiple channels
  • Work with external agencies to manage, update, and maintain corporate website; rewrite copy, analyze and improve user experience, optimize sales opportunities, and improve SEO
  • Develop brand and visual guidelines, as well as writing style guidelines
  • Oversee writing and design of marketing materials to ensure high quality content consistent with company voice and brand
  • Develop and continuously update corporate narratives on evolving market and industry trends
  • Collaborate with all departments to continuously assess brand and communication needs and manage the development of relevant collateral including PowerPoint decks, governance advisory notes, branded documents, templates, and other corporate or sales presentations, and fact sheets
  • Oversee external agencies, vendors or freelancers as needed
  • Lead social media channels and campaigns (including remarketing campaigns) and writing copy, developing images/assets, and ensuring to share and manage content, and measure outcomes
  • Stay current on changes in proxy advisor policies, industry trends, and legal developments affecting the Company's business
  • Measure and report performance of all marketing campaigns, and assess ROI and KPIs
  • Excellent writing skills, passion for developing thoughtful content, and understanding of how to position communication for influence and impact
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing, communications, or related field
  • Minimum 7 years experience as Brand Manager or Associate Brand Manager
  • Experience in planning integrated communications plans for political or advocacy campaigns or similar is highly desirable
  • Experience with managing corporate social media
  • Experience in high-stakes situations, transaction-based work, capital markets, financial services, agency, or similar environment is highly desirable
  • Experience with digital communications and interacting with media
  • Superior proofreading and editing skills
  • Ability to deal with uncertainty, tight deadlines, and transition easily with change
  • Strong analytical skills partnered with a creative mind
  • Advanced PowerPoint proficiency
  • Graphic design skills/programs and ability to update websites a strong asset
