We have 2-3 locally owned businesses based in Bracebridge seeking a reliable and detail-oriented
in-person Bookkeeper
with strong administrative skills. This role supports day-to-day financial operations and light office administration across both businesses.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a consistent, organized routine and prefers hands-on, in-person work in a small business environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping (Primary Focus):
Manage bookkeeping for two businesses using
QuickBooks
Reconcile multiple bank, credit card, and payment processor accounts
Enter and categorize expenses, invoices, and receipts
Process payables and receivables
Prepare basic financial reports as required
Maintain accurate and well-organized financial records
Administrative Support (Secondary Focus):
Assist with filing, document organization, and general office tasks
Help with scheduling, correspondence, and follow-up
Support small admin projects for both businesses as needed
Communicate professionally with vendors, clients, and team members
Ideal Candidate:
Experienced with
QuickBooks
and comfortable with multiple account reconciliations
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
Trustworthy, confidential, and dependable
Able to work independently with minimal supervision
Some admin experience (office management, email handling, filing, scheduling, etc.)
Friendly, proactive, and able to adapt between tasks for two small businesses
Must be able to work
on-site in Bracebridge

Part-time, flexible hours (approx. 3-6)hours per week to start, with potential to grow)

Responsibilities
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms
Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliation to ensure accuracy of financial data
Prepare journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and account analysis in accordance with GAAP standards
Assist with payroll processing and tax-related activities for both corporate and non-profit organizations
Support budgeting activities by compiling financial data and assisting in financial report writing
Maintain accurate records of debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and general ledger accounting
Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies or irregularities in financial statements
Assist with governmental accounting procedures and ensure compliance with relevant regulations
Utilize 10 key typing skills for data entry tasks and document management
Support month-end closing processes by organizing documentation and preparing necessary reports
Requirements
Proven experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms
Strong understanding of accounting principles including GAAP, double entry bookkeeping, and financial concepts
Experience with bank reconciliation, journal entries, general ledger reconciliation, and account analysis
Knowledge of governmental accounting practices and tax experience is a plus
Ability to perform precise bookkeeping tasks including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and budget management
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in financial report writing and record keeping
Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and external auditors
Prior experience in public accounting or corporate/non-profit accounting is desirable but not required
