to support our food and beverage team during events. Reporting to the Banquet Captain, this role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced hospitality environment. Banquet Servers are responsible for delivering high-quality service during meal functions, coffee breaks, and receptions while creating a professional and welcoming guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
Set up tables, buffet stations, and service areas according to event specifications
Transport and serve food and beverages to guests at tables or buffet lines
Ensure service adheres to event Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and established standards
Maintain a professional, upbeat, and guest-focused demeanor throughout events
Communicate effectively with other team members to ensure seamless service
Provide bar service, including handling cash and credit transactions
Clear tables and clean the event space following the conclusion of service
Assist with inventory, restocking, and storage as needed
Notify Banquet Captain of any food or beverage concerns immediately
Capable of carrying trays with up to 8 entrees or items weighing up to 50 lbs (asset, not required)
Remain focused, mobile, and on your feet for the duration of shifts
Perform other duties as assigned based on event needs
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required
Prior banquet service and/or beverage experience in a hotel, convention centre, or similar environment preferred
Strong understanding of banquet service standards and guest etiquette
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members
Responsible Beverage Service Certificate required
Food Handler's Certificate is an asset
Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail
English proficiency required; French proficiency preferred
Must be of legal age to serve alcohol
Compensation & Availability
Gratuities may be given by clients, but are not guaranteed
An elevated hourly wage is provided to reflect the casual nature of the role
Casual hours, primarily evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the Avenir Centre event schedule
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
Ability to stand, walk, and navigate stairs for 8-10+ hours
Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs
Work in both indoor and outdoor environments, often in loud conditions
Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and carrying trays
Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting with direct guest interaction
