Job Description


Our renown client from the real estate industry sector is seeking an Assistant Controller to add to their team. The Assistant Controller is a essential role, responsible for assisting the Controller and wider team in various functions including audits, financial reporting and people management We are looking for someone who loves the combination of numbers mixed with customer service. This role is for someone who can manage difficult conversations and negotiate complex problems with competing interests to find solutions that work for all parties. The ideal candidate is someone solutions-driven, has a laser attention to detail, enjoys all aspects of financial operations and can manage sensitive issues.

Reporting directly to the Controller, your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly financial statements and reports.
  • Review monthly operating statements for various rental portfolio.
  • Participate in preparation of the year-end audit.
  • Handle day to day banking maintenance (i.e. open/close bank accounts, fund transfer,
  • bill payment approval, wire transfer and EFT set up, liaise with Account Manager for various banking requests)
  • Cash flow projection and monitoring.
  • Participate in the development of the company\'s annual budget and periodic forecasts.
  • Ensure that accounting practices are in compliance with Company accounting policies, and procedures and internal controls, while encouraging continuous improvement.
  • Perform monthly accounts reconciliation and review the company\'s accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances.
  • Perform annual CAM reconciliation for commercial tenants.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and summaries as needed by the management.
  • Review monthly construction loan draws and the related journal entries.
  • Undertake training for new and existing team members.
  • Support accounting team during the system implementation and other special projects as required
Requirements

To be considered for this opportunity, you are:
  • A designated or close to designation (CPA, Canada or US) with at least 5 years of accounting experience in Real Estate, experience with IFRS accounting standards, advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and experience with Power BI.
  • Excellent communication skill combined with a proactive personality to be able to liaise with internal and external stakeholders, as well as the CFO
