Our client has been in the manufacturing business for over 100 years. Headquartered in Europe, the company boasts locations and customers across the globe. Due to steady and impressive growth in Canada, the company is adding an Assistant Controller to the team.

The Role

The Assistant Controller reports to Canadian CFO. As the Assistant Controller, you will be responsible for identifying and recommending process improvement opportunities. The Assistant Controller leads the cost accounting process and provides various profitability and cost and variance analysis to the Senior Management Team. You will investigate variances between actual and budget and prepare KPI reporting.

About You

To be considered for this position, you are a CPA or in the late stages of the CPA program. You have a solid foundation of technical accounting knowledge and cost accounting in a manufacturing environment. You enjoy solving problems. The Senior Management Team will look to your recommendations on how to improve processes. You will be the one who will determine "how things are today" and "where things should be", and ultimately, you will be the one to recommend courses of actions and lead the implementation of your suggestions.

Requirements of Role:
  • CPA designation or late stages of CPA program
  • 3+ years of accounting experience
  • Strong ERP knowledge
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Manufacturing industry experience
  • Strong cost accounting background
Requirements

Responsibilities:
  • Focus on business partnering and day-to-day cooperation with VP Operations/CTO and Supply Chain Manager.
  • Support all finance and accounting related topics including budgeting.
  • Help to manage production controlling reporting systems in conjunction with area managers.
  • Support overall reporting/planning/forecast processes including fulfilment of time schedule and data quality requirements.
  • Lead cost accounting and investment controlling administration.
  • Support management with manufacturing cost analyses and ROI reports.
  • Monthly variance analysis of actual to budget (revenues, costs, operating expenses).
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Recommend process improvements to Senior Management Team and lead implementation of recommendations.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP.
  • Sales, cost and profitability analysis.
