Are you looking for an introduction into the Corporate Services and Finances realms within the OPS? Are you highly organized and like to work in a fast paced environment? The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) is looking for an Administrative Assistant in the Strategic Management and Corporate Services Branch.

The Strategic Management and Corporate Services Branch is accountable for the Ministry\'s fiscal corporate strategic planning, risk management strategies, corporate accounting, internal and external financial reporting, budget and expenditure management, revenue management processes, financial systems support; sustainment, controllership and corporate performance measurement/reporting, agency management, and leadership for government finance and administration submissions to Treasury Board.

Please Note: The successful candidate for this position will be required to work, a minimum of 3 business days, in the office per week.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
  • Provide support to branch operations and project initiatives by producing a variety of documents including correspondence, various materials and minutes of meetings
  • Administer calendars for the Managers and coordinate meetings and appointments
  • Review and process paperwork for routine workflows
  • Open, organize and log incoming and outgoing mail and internal approval notes for the branch
  • Administer \xe2\x80\x98bring forward\' systems for the managers to track branch action items
  • Respond to in-person inquiries and incoming telephone calls to the section


How do I qualify?

Office Administration Skills:

  • You have demonstrated knowledge of administrative principles, methods and practices, policies, standards and guidelines
  • You have knowledge of processes related to the administration and processing of human resources documents, purchasing requisitions and invoices/expense claim payments
  • You have knowledge of filing, records and information management systems, processes and standards to organize and maintain branch electronic and manual filing systems
  • You have arithmetic skills to calculate employee attendance, check and verify calculations on expense claims and invoices


Reasoning, Time Management and Organizational Skills:

  • You are able to determine priority when performing a variety of different administrative responsibilities with conflicting deadlines, and to respond effectively to fluctuating workload demands
  • You have demonstrated reasoning skills to administer the Manager\'s calendars in order to determine the required length of meetings
  • You have reasoning skills to review incoming correspondence and information requests
  • You have demonstrated organizational skills to compile information for meetings, correspondence responses and presentations


Communication and Judgement Skills:

  • You have demonstrated oral communication and interpersonal skills, diplomacy and tact to respond to general inquiries and to provide administrative services to management/staff in all branch sections
  • You have demonstrated written communication skills to prepare administrative reports and standard correspondence
  • You have the ability to work in a high pressure environment and meet critical deadlines
  • You have attention to detail to review and proof read documents for accuracy and completeness


Computer Skills:

  • You have computer skills to prepare documents using a variety of word processing, database and presentation software applications and desktop publishing
