Job Description

Dionne Quints Heritage Board requires an energetic, motivated Collections & Museum Assistant responsible for providing development of a database of archived artifacts and documents that will organize the collection. Individual will also be involved in Museum tours.

NOTE: Applicant MUST be between the ages of 15 and 30, and be a Canadian resident (as per Canada Jobs program requirement)



Job Duties



Develop museum artifacts and historical publication database

Catalogue and digitize artifacts, photographs and historic publications

Museum Tours - Weekend operations

Perform research on museum artifacts, publications, and photographs as necessary

Box artifacts and perform preventative conservation as required

Requirements



Interest in Library Technology or a related discipline

Interest in developing strong research skills

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

General understanding of computerized cataloging systems

Working knowledge of MS Word, Adobe and Excel

Accuracy and attention to detail

Good interpersonal and customer service skills

Good team player and ability to work independently

Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills

Interest in developing strong critical and logical thinking and analysis skills

Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills

A knowledge of manual or electronic document control systems would be an advantage

Read and converse in French is an asset

In order to be eligible for this position, applicants must meet Canada Summer Jobs funding eligibility which states that eligible candidates:

be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment

be a Canadian citizen

, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
Job Type: Seasonal
Contract length: 3 months

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 32 per week

Schedule:

8 hour shift Monday to Friday Weekends as needed

North Bay, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
Education:

Secondary School (preferred)
