Job Description
Our client, an established and growing distribution company, is seeking an Accounting Assistant to join their team! Reporting to the Controller, the successful candidate will be responsible for accurate processing of accounts payable as well a supporting general accounting functions. - Full cycle Accounts Payable, issuing bi-weekly payments by cheque/wire/EFT
- Accurate processing of employee expenses
- Reconciling vendor statements
- Various account reconciliations
- Fixed Asset amortization
- Bank entries and reconciliations
- Government Filings including GST/PST/QST remittance and reconciliation
- Additional duties as required
- Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance
- A minimum of 2 years of related accounting experience, preferably in the manufacturing or distribution industry
- Prior experience working in a multi-currency environment is beneficial
- Candidates must have strong attention to detail and effective time management skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills are key for success in this position
- Proficiency in MS Office including Excel is required
