Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented, motivated
Accounting Assistant
to support our finance team in delivering accurate financial reporting, managing accounts payable and receivable, processing payroll, and supporting disbursement of provincial and federal grants. This role plays an integral part in maintaining financial integrity and supporting the organization's mission of empowering Black entrepreneurs and communities.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
Process and enter invoices
Secure necessary approvals
Prepare and execute payments through PayEdge
Accounts Receivable
Generate and send client invoices
Record payments received
Payroll Support
Track employee leave and payroll adjustments
Process biweekly payroll and post journal entries
Prepare and issue T4s and ROEs
Financial Reporting
Prepare draft financial statements (BIJ)
Analyze and post Visa statements
IT & Inventory Coordination
Provide first-tier IT troubleshooting
Coordinate with IT consultants and manage equipment inventory
Administrative & Team Support
Maintain organized financial records
Support internal teams with financial data
Assist during organizational events when required
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Degree or diploma in Accounting or Business Administration
Relevant accounting experience required
CPA designation (or working toward it) is considered an asset
Technical Skills
Proficiency in Sage 300, Ceridian, Microsoft Excel, and Teams
Familiarity with Canadian GAAP, ASNPO, and IFRS
