  • Manage and handle chemicals, recycling and waste, and hazardous and liquid waste programs across the mill on a daily basis
  • Responsible for the maintenance of paperwork and data entry such as Waste and Hazardous waste manifests and documentation, workplace chemical signage, audits, inspections, and inventory management (Cycle counts, inventory adjustments)
  • Order chemicals and materials to maintain chemical availability and quantity in the mill, and unload tanker trucks when they arrive
  • Monitor and prevent spills and other problems by running the Spills Prevention Program, performing spill containments and inspections, and assisting in the environmental department
  • Responsible for shipping office management (SHARP Program, management of trailer seals, etc.)
  • Lead Action Teams; the Chemical Management and Waste Management teams
  • Perform risk assessments on all existing and new chemicals
  • Assist and provide back-up for the stores and receiving areas
  • Organize and maintain 347/TDG training
  • Communicate and deal with the MOE and ensure mill is in compliance with rules and regulations
  • Train all new employees in WHMIS, Spill and Recycling programs, and both mill wide and asset specific Chemical Awareness
  • Stores Receiver back up for vacation, sick days, etc
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge and industrial experience and considerable knowledge and experience at the functional level
  • Sufficient computer skills to use or learn Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, PIMS, SAP and EBP
  • Strong organization and communication skills
