Position Description:
YWCA Regina is opening a new Integrated Youth Services (IYS) Hub in 2024 and is seeking a dynamic Youth Program Coordinator. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Community Programs, the Coordinator will provide support to youth aged 12-25 experiencing complex needs, including mental health challenges, substance use disorders, and those who may be homeless or living in poverty. The Youth Program Coordinator at the IYS Youth Hub is responsible for overseeing the development, coordination, and delivery of programs aimed at supporting youth (ages 12-25) in areas such as mental health, addiction recovery, education, and social well-being. The role requires strong organizational, data management, and relationship-building skills. The coordinator will ensure that programming is accessible, effective, and meets the needs of youth by working collaboratively with other team members and community stakeholders to build a comprehensive suite of programs and program partners. The role of the coordinator may vary based on the needs of the community and program growth and may also include specific projects as assigned.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct advocacy and support to youth (12-25) navigating complex systems such as justice, healthcare, and education.
Identify service gaps and work to prevent duplication of services by coordinating with other service providers.
Support youth in accessing other services related to legal advocacy, medical needs, and social supports.
Build relationships with local justice organizations and advocate for youth needs within these structures.
Conduct outreach to ensure that youth who are disengaged or hard to reach have access to the Hub's services.
Collaborate with the Youth Program Coordinator and other Hub staff to ensure a holistic approach to service delivery.
Assist in the development and delivery of justice-related programs for youth that address systemic barriers.
Track outcomes for youth accessing advocacy services, ensuring data is recorded for reporting and program evaluation.
Serve as a resource for youth on legal rights, healthcare access, and social service navigation.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in justice studies, law, social work, or related field.
Experience working with youth involved in the justice system or facing systemic barriers.
Strong communication, advocacy, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to provide integrated support.
Familiarity with Indigenous cultures and the impacts of colonialism on justice and social systems.
Evening and weekend availability.
Strong case management and counselling skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Excellent organizational, communication, and crisis intervention skills.
Valid Class 5 driver's license and First Aid/CPR certification.
