What you\'ll do

IDEA School of Design builds students\' skills in visual communication design, illustration, branding, interactive design, art direction, UI (user interface), and UX (user experience), editorial design, publishing, digital media, character design, storyboard art, environmental design, web/app design and more.

IDEA graduates are working in a wide range of fields at many top studios and agencies in Vancouver and around the world. Others have gone on to form startup companies and successful freelance careers.

We are looking for an instructor to teach a 4 day workshop as part of a term-long course, \xe2\x80\x9cVisual Communication Workshops II\xe2\x80\x9d.

The scope of work is as follows:

• Develop and teach a 4-day workshop, \xe2\x80\x9cVideo Production: Directing, Shooting, Editing\xe2\x80\x9d (Mar 8, 15, 22, Apr 5) to third-year students in the Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication program;
• Design, administer, and grade one project worth 33% of the course grade;
• Undertake a student-oriented approach to education and provide a safe and welcoming class environment;
• Instruct, motivate, and provide critical and constructive feedback to students

Workshop Description
Learn how to shoot, direct and edit your own video project! This workshop will provide you with the tools you need to understand camera functionality, capture creative visuals, conduct an interview, and assemble an edit that is succinct and compelling. Students will work with a camera in a number of environments, conduct an interview and gather interesting visuals, assemble a rough cut and deliver a finished edit.

Qualifications and Experience

• Proven professional experience (i.e. portfolio, samples of work or case study) demonstrating technical and conceptual experience in related subject matter;
• Master\'s degree is an asset;
• Capacity to assess and advise students at every stage of the project through clear communication;
• Well-versed in Mac environment;
• Organized, flexible, and supportive of students\' learning
