Your Opportunity:Reporting to the Medical Device Reprocessing Management Team, the Working Leader/Educator is responsible for providing orientation to all new employees at the UAH Medical Device Reprocessing Department. In addition, the incumbent will provide: coaching and mentoring, teaching and leadership to all existing staff focusing on creating a team orientated environment. The incumbent works with management to enhance daily operations through effective assignment, orientation, and teaching. The incumbent assists in improving the overall education and educational materials used within the various departments, also assists in the creation and update of departmental Standard Operating Procedures for all areas of responsibility. The incumbent will also be responsible for making sure that yearly Competency assessments are given to all employees and identifying during that time any educational opportunities. The successful applicant assists the Management team by providing input for yearly Performance Evaluations. The incumbent will be required to work closely with the existing Team and in particularly with the Working Leaders and Clinical Assistants providing education for their portfolios.Description:As a Working Leader, you will orientate, support, and continuously coach Surgical Processors. This may include setting priorities according to shift and daily requirements within the department while ensuring policies/procedures and standards are adhered to. You will act as a formal resource to department staff and may act as a delegate for management on operational issues. As a Working Leader, you may assist the management team by providing input for yearly performance evaluations of surgical processing staff.

Required Qualifications:Completion of an accredited Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) program. Completion of an Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) certification or Canadian Standards Association (CSA) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of an MDRT course at a recognized college is required. Certification from CSA or HSPA is mandatory. Preference will be given to those with CSA certification. A minimum of 3 years recent experience as Medical Device Reprocessing Technician along with a proven track record of competency within their field. Experience working with a variety of flexible endoscopes is essential. Preference will be given to those candidates who have experience at a tertiary hospital, as well as demonstrated competency in providing education. Knowledge and experience with the WHMIS and WHS Program is also required. Basic knowledge of windows-based applications are also a requirement of this position. Experience with the SPM tracking system is a requirement. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communications skills as well as engaging employees in learning and developing the required skills. Extensive knowledge of all types of instrumentation is also a requirement of this position.
