Your Opportunity:

Under the supervision of the Environmental Services manager, the Working Leader-Environmental assigns, monitors, and assists with a variety of cleaning and housekeeping duties. This position requisitions supplies/equipment, creates work schedules, completes time cards, and assists with orientation of employees. The Working Leader-Environmental participates in meetings and education sessions in the facility as required. This position will comply with Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) and other safety and infection control regulations, policies, and procedures. The Working Leader-Environmental will promote Health and Safety Awareness by using safe work procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment when required. Performs other related duties as required.

Description:

As a Working Leader - Environmental, you will be responsible for monitoring and directing the day-to-day workload of the Environmental Services department and ensuring maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies. Your typical duties as the Environmental Working Leader may include developing and maintaining staff schedules; assigning and checking work of the Environmental Services department; assisting with equipment breakdown investigations and providing recommendations for repairs; and coordinating quality assurance functions. You will ensure quality and performance of cleaning tasks in accordance with AHS standards and practices.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Physically capable to walk and/or stand for the duration of your shift, and perform repetitive physical movements. Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience: 2 years\' experience in Environmental Services. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: General knowledge of cleaning techniques and methods required. Ability to read chemical labels and Material Safety Data Sheets required. Good interpersonal skills required. Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written format. Physical Effort/Strength Required: Frequent physical demands include ability to stand for long periods, walking, bending, climbing ladders, mopping, use of floor polisher and be capable of lifting 25-50 pounds on a regular basis. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a healthcare facility desired. Successful completion of a basic housekeeping program is an asset.
