The EMS Department at Alberta Health Services (AHS) has an exciting opportunity for an individual who naturally demonstrates leadership by example and strives for customer service excellence. The Working Leader - Ambulance Readiness Attendant (ARA) is responsible for providing supervision to Ambulance Readiness operations by assigning, monitoring, providing direction, and assisting with the workload requirements of the Ambulance Readiness Attendants (ARAs). In addition to providing coaching and mentoring to the ARAs, you maintain department routines and workflow pattern for optimum efficiency and continuous quality improvement. This newly developed position is the main point of contact pertaining to ambulance readiness operations for key stakeholders including oncoming and outgoing paramedic crews starting and finishing their shifts, EMS Supervisors, EMS Coordinators, and Vehicle Equipment Supply Service Technicians (VESST\'s).

Description:

As a Working Leader - Service Worker, you will be responsible for providing daily leadership to Service Worker staff such as assigning and checking their work, maintaining workflow of the assigned area and providing input into staff performance appraisals. You will act as a formal resource to staff, assist with the day-to-day operational requirements for the area and assist in the orientation and training of new staff. In addition, you will direct, monitor, and ensure the coordination of a centralized system of dispatching supplies and equipment to patient care areas. Where applicable, you will also direct and monitor a centralized system for the transportation of patients (clients/residents) to and from patient care areas within a site.

Required Qualifications:

Grade 12 or equivalent. Additional Required Qualifications:

Must possess a work history of being a successful leader. This may include being a title-less leader, but the successful individual exhibits demonstrated natural tendencies towards leading the way in a positive direction by example. Alberta Class 5 driver\'s License in good standing (6 demerits or less and no current suspensions). You will be required to perform a vehicle orientation and maneuvering competency review prior to driving the ambulance within or adjacent to the EMS facility. Possesses a basic understanding of cleaning and disinfection, as well as inventory management. Possesses a basic understanding of automotive components, operations and simple vehicle checks. Applicants must have, at minimum, basic computer skills, such as filling out electronic checklists and forms. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to read, write, speak, understand and follow written and oral directions in English. Physical requirements of the job include lifting to 80 pounds, climbing into and out of the cab and the patient compartment of ambulances, mostly standing and walking during each shift, and the ability to bend, crouch, and twist without restriction. A combination of education, training and relevant experience, including customer-service experience, may be considered. Preference given to anyone who had previously completed the ARA Orientation. Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to those applicants that have previous experience as a leader and customer service specialist. Additionally, performing cleaning duties in a hospital or institution, as well as knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses, basic maintenance and troubleshooting are valuable assets. Previous experience driving larger vehicles, such as a full-sized pickup truck or cube van an asset.
