About the Role: We are currently hiring a Full-Time Workfloor Instructor. This position reports to the manager and is currently assigned to work in the Toronto, Ontario (DVP & Lawrence Avenue) area. This is a full-time position that works 35 hours a week, Monday to Friday, flexible to meet program needs. The purpose of the expectation task list is to identify and clarify what management expects from the incumbent. The following expectations and tasks will be part of the annual performance appraisals; your merit increase will be based on the level of performance in each of the following areas. Expectations may change year to year and both parties should use the annual performance appraisal to determine realistic and equitable goals and outcomes for the upcoming performance year.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDEService
Support satisfactory completion of work contracts within customer specifications and deadlines
Support scheduling and receiving all incoming goods/materials and assist in the inventory of all materials/products relating to the workshop
Assist in Shipping all outgoing goods/materials to workshop customers as required, including the timely completion of shipping bills
Document all incoming/outgoing goods/materials submitting documentation to the Vocational Program Supervisor daily
Operate and maintain all equipment associated with the shipping/receiving and movement of goods within the workshop
Assist in safekeeping and inventory of customer materials located on the premises
Be a resource person to staff on the Workfloor regarding product inventory, product location, supplies and equipment
Assist as needed to oversee the workshop operations as they relate to completion of customer contracts
Assist with setting up and monitoring of work contracts daily and support their efficient completion within customer specifications and deadlines
Assign clients to jobs and to train, instruct, support and supervise them in the completion of their work, ensuring they are completed in accordance with customer\xe2\x80\x99s requirements and specifications
Assist with the maintenance of all workshop equipment and the provision of adequate training to staff, students and volunteers regarding any machinery or equipment used in the day to day operation of the workshop
Ensure the appropriate safety procedures are followed at all times and to assist with all aspects of workplace safety and cleanliness
Assist with the moving of equipment and changing of workshop layout as required
Assist as needed with kitchen preparations
Establish and maintain appropriate helping relationships with clients
Deflate behavioural crises and follow appropriate emergency procedures
Report any significant observations and/or client information to the Vocational Program Supervisor
Organizational
Participate constructively and energetically as a responsible member of the PLUS Program team and maintain harmonious relations with all staff and management personnel
Model effective and efficient behaviour for clients and demonstrate acceptable professional behaviour
Assist with record-keeping and statistics tracking as required and work towards departmental goals
Have knowledge of agency philosophy, policy and procedures and to ensure these are upheld
Be involved in regular supervision with the Vocational Program Supervisor
Be responsible for professional self-development
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Programs support individuals that may exhibit behavioural issues. Will be required to be trained and certified in NVCI (non-violent crisis intervention and prevention) and First Aid.
Required to lift up to 30lbs and stand and walk for long periods during the shift ( warehouse/factory setting)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation, Qualifications and Certifications:
High school diploma or other equivalent
A combination of equivalent experience and education may be considered
Training experience in warehouse work, assembly and packaging
Certification in lift trucks
Certification in WHIMIS
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:
Experience working with people with developmental disabilities and preferably working with individuals who have a dual diagnosis of mental health challenges and developmental disabilities
Understanding of Quality Behavioural Competencies
Strong counselling/de-escalation skills required
Experience in a Social Services Agency preferred
Training and experience in a rehabilitation and/or factory setting
Skills and Capabilities:
Computer skills including MS Office (Access, Excel, Word, etc.), internet research, invoices and email
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills, leadership skills and a collaborative team approach to create a working climate that is positive and mutually supportive
Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt to a fast-changing environment
Strong organizational skills, time management skills
Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of safe operation of machinery and equipment associated with the movement of goods in a warehouse setting
The ability to maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information is mandatory
Demonstrated commitment and ability to treat others with respect, dignity and tact, as well as the ability to care for people with differing abilities
Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development
Demonstrates relevant understanding of, and compliance with, legislative knowledge of the Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Act, collective agreement and other applicable legislation as required

Proven leadership capacity.
Valid Standard First Aid Certificate with CPR, Level C
Ability to achieve Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certificate upon hire
A clear vulnerable sector screening, completed no less than 2 months prior to date of hire
Valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license an asset, and clean driver\xe2\x80\x99s abstract required
Ability to successfully complete all mandatory training as required by the agency
Fluency in French is considered an asset
