Job Description


Title: Winding Operator Position Summary: The CT Winder will be responsible for operating a winding machine or using hand application to apply copper winding and layer insulation to steel cores. The operator must be able to inspect and verify proper material usage and dimension requirements, adhering to all Polycast specifications, drawings, quality, and safety regulations. Major responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform winding assembly of current transformers to Polycast\xe2\x80\x99s specifications, drawings, and standards
  • Set up winding machine, understand settings and functions, and ensure machine is running properly to avoid unnecessary down time
  • Perform pre-inspection and post-inspection of steel cores and other materials
  • Work to ensure schedule and production targets are met and all products meet quality standards
  • Learn the different types, terminology, classifications, components, and ratings of current transformers
  • A working knowledge of wire types and ability to identify imperfections
  • Perform soldering of wire joints
  • Profile board collars by hand and machine
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and the assigned work area
  • Work effectively as part of a team to ensure productivity and efficiency
  • Operate a hoist, pallet jack, and/or forklift safely
  • Follow all standard operating procedures, safety regulations, and ISO requirements
  • Participate in educational and training opportunities applicable to the position
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Post-secondary education in electronics or a related discipline is an asset
  • Electrical knowledge and mechanical skills required
  • Previous manufacturing experience is an asset
  • Basic reading, writing, arithmetic, and computer skills
  • Must be able to read, use, and understand standard and metric measuring devices
  • Proficient with hand tools
  • Demonstrate a safe and quality conscious approach to work and perform well in a self-directed team environment
Work Conditions:
  • Highly repetitive tasks
  • Ability to stand, crouch, bend, reach for long periods of time
  • Heavy lifting required up to 50lbs
  • Manual dexterity required
  • Overtime as required
