Role Overview
The
Westcan Regional Manager - Tournament Operations
is responsible for planning, promoting, and executing Play Hockey's premier tournaments across Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia. This role requires a dynamic, highly organized individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can successfully balance sales, logistics, and on-site management to deliver exceptional experiences for all participants.
Key Responsibilities
Tournament Sales & Promotion
Drive registration and participation for assigned tournaments through strategic sales initiatives.
Build relationships with associations, teams, coaches, and key decision-makers to maximize event growth.
Collaborate with the marketing team to develop effective promotional strategies and campaigns.
Event Planning & Logistics
Lead all aspects of tournament planning, including:
Venue selection and booking
Scheduling games and managing brackets
Recruiting and coordinating officials and volunteers
Organizing equipment, signage, and event materials
Ensure every event is set up for operational success.
On-Site Operations
Act as the primary leader on-site, overseeing the smooth execution of each tournament.
Manage staff, volunteers, and officials while addressing real-time challenges.
Ensure a positive, professional experience for players, coaches, parents, and spectators.
Stakeholder Communication
Serve as the main point of contact for teams, parents, officials, and venue partners.
Provide timely, accurate updates and resolve inquiries or concerns quickly.
Budget & Reporting
Assist with managing tournament budgets, ensuring financial performance aligns with company goals.
Provide post-event reports including participation data, financial results, and participant feedback.
Post-Event Wrap-Up
Compile and distribute tournament results, highlights, and awards.
Gather and analyze participant feedback to drive continuous event improvements.

Qualifications
Experience in event management, tournament operations, sports administration, or a related field.
Proven track record of successfully managing multiple events simultaneously.
Strong sales and relationship-building skills with the ability to drive registration and participation.
Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with a high attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with confidence engaging stakeholders at all levels.
Proficiency in Google Workspace, and experience with tournament management software is an asset.
Ability to work evenings and weekends during events, with regular regional travel required.
