Overview

Term: 1 year

Reporting to the Digital Engagement Specialist, the Web Co-ordinator is responsible for supporting various external relations, communications, technology as they relate to the web activities of Co-operative and Experiential Education (CEE). The role will serve as a support for CEE and its various departments in the maintenance and management of websites.

Responsibilities

Manages web content and implements multi-channel content

  • Supports the content management of the various CEE websites, including the look, navigation, user interface, and functionality of each website
  • Plans and publishes materials on the CEE websites for our stakeholders, including students, prospective employers, current employers, alumni, and faculty & staff
  • Maintains and updates special events, news, and announcements on all CEE sites
  • Regularly reviews and edits content on all CEE websites to ensure consistency, contain up-to-date information and avoid duplication on the various sites
  • Brings innovative ideas and new content solutions to the sites
Maintains websites pre- and post-migration and updates
  • Repairs broken links and other issues with the websites
  • Performs audit and archiving or removal of aging material
  • WCMS 3 Migration cleaning/testing/adjusting/reformatting
  • Ensures that updates/migrations don't negatively impact the CEE websites
  • Sources images for the CEE websites
  • Performs regular checks of all the website
Provides support
  • Provides web support across CEE, including the areas of the Work-Learn Institute, Work Integrated Learning, Centre for Career Action and Co-operative Education
  • Supports the development of web communications
  • Helps raise the profile of the CEE by organizing content targeted to specific audiences that succeeds in driving return visits to the sites and building engagement with our stakeholders
  • Consult on and apply web-content-writing best practices taking into account SEO, usability and accessibility in support of other colleagues that have access to the CEE websites
  • Performs analysis of competitors' websites
  • Works collaboratively with the Strategic Communications and Employer Engagement teams
Maintains University web standards
  • Follows best practices laid out by the University for content and its delivery
  • Understands the guidelines laid out by the University for websites
  • Uses current market research in web design and online writing principles
Qualifications
  • Postsecondary degree in communications, digital marketing, advertising, media studies, digital experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • 1-2 years of experience maintaining websites
  • 1-2 years of experience in web-based communications, including website design and content management
  • Experience in writing for the web and editing skills
  • Experience with digital analytics tools and reporting
  • Well-developed proofreading abilities
  • Effective time management skills, ability to multitask
  • Positive energy and attitude and willingness to work flexible hours
  • A passion for and commitment to getting the right information to the right audience at the right time
  • Effective interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Ability to organize and classify information
  • Keen sense of responsive client service
  • Knowledge of user experience design an asset
  • Ability to do basic graphics creation or editing using graphics software is an asset
  • Working knowledge of current project, analytics and web content management systems:
  • Google Analytics Solutions/Google Analytics/Google Data Studio
  • MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Drupal is an asset
  • Work outside the normal operating hours of the institution can be expected in this role
