Duties: Under the general supervision of the Manager of Investment and Business Development or the Director of Economic Development, and the day to day supervision of a Business Development Officer

1. May perform any of the following duties:

  • Deliver designated support and development services to the community within and outside CGS.
  • Responsible for implementing designated areas of the Economic Development Business Plan.
  • Responsible for designing, producing and distributing marketing materials, attending media and trade shows, conducting sales mission, preparing displays and presentations.
  • Responsible for sourcing, compiling and preparing sales leads, statistical data, and reports to assist clients with business planning and market research.
  • Maintain photo, video and web resources required for the production of promotion material.
  • Responsible for the co-ordination of visual resources with other CGS departments and outside agencies.
  • Assist local organizations with event planning, and develop strategies to encourage additional events.
2. Guide, advise and counsel clients regarding Section programs and services, including programs available from provincial, federal, and private sector agencies.

3. Organize, co-ordinate and deliver information seminars to clients.

4. Conduct client surveys to evaluate effectiveness of programs, monitor client satisfaction and make recommendations for changes.

5. As designated, co-ordinate the CGS Primary Health Provider Recruitment Program. Perform related duties specific to this area.

6. Assist at various Division and other CGS department functions and special projects.

7. Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS's Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.

8. Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:
  • Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in a related discipline (e.g. Marketing, Hospitality and Tourism or Business Administration).
  • Two and one-half (2) to five (5) years directly related experience.
  • Knowledge of various computer applications including Windows based systems, word processing, spreadsheet, desktop publishing and presentation software and Internet.
  • Demonstrate skills and abilities related to the use of information technology.
  • Demonstrate ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Knowledge of best practices within areas of responsibility.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Demonstrate organizational and analytical ability.
  • Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
  • French verbal skills highly desirable; written skills an asset.
  • Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history.
  • Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid driver's licence, have an acceptable driving record, and personal insurance coverage.
