Web and Digital Marketing Coordinator Reports To: Manager, MarketingMission: To create an environment that inspires a passion for student success.Desired Results of the Position:

  • Inform students of the value and relevance of their Algonquin Students' Association (SA)
  • Maintain an on-brand digital presence that students view as the authoritative source of information.
Nature and Scope:Reporting to the Manager, Marketing the incumbent is responsible for bringing the SA's website and digital marketing presence to life in a meaningful and accessible way. This position is responsible for providing technical website expertise and for the planning, implementing, and monitoring of digital marketing strategies in support of the organization. The Web and Digital
Marketing Coordinator will also work directly with project stakeholders to ensure web-based applications meet business and user requirements by coding new web applications and supporting current solutions. The primary function is to establish the relevance of the SA and the Board of Directors to the membership.Job Duties:
  • Review, develop, and lead the implementation of an annual plan for website and digital marketing initiatives under the guidance of the Manager, Marketing.
  • Routinely collaborate with all stakeholders to formulate an annual communications and marketing plan with clear objectives and a defined strategy that: o Creates a website presence to generate awareness, trigger imagination, and build engagement across all campuses. o Protects and elevates the SA's image and reputation and contributes to the achievement of its objectives.
  • Manage the website functionality, content, and use, with a focus on constantly improving the user experience.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate information architecture and navigational structures for the SA websites to ensure content is accessible and accurate for users and is aligned with each department's operational needs and strategic directions.
  • Ensure that all information is timely, current, and relevant.
  • Establish guidelines, best practices and standards related to designing and maintaining an accessible website.
  • Monitor website analytics against designated targets and identify trends while providing a quarterly report.
  • Educate and train relevant employees on the use of the website.
  • Manage and maintain a digital signage deployment schedule on behalf of all departments across all campuses.
  • Develop class representative courses in the learning management system
  • Protect the SA brand by ensuring that SA messaging meets a professional standard and is consistent across all digital media.
  • Remain knowledgeable and current in information technology, ensuring the SA is deploying technology used by the membership.
  • Build, maintain and support the online store.
  • Establish and maintain harmonious and productive relationships with SA staff, students, and college staff.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:
  • Diploma in Web Development, Interactive Media Design, Digital Marketing, or equivalent
  • Three years of direct work experience in developing and maintaining websites
  • Strong working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and PHP
  • WordPress expert
  • Familiarity working with AppSpace or other digital signage CMS
  • Solid understanding of web architectures, user-centric design, and usability testing
  • Experience building multiple websites of increasing complexity, including e-commerce sites
  • Strong knowledge of accessibility standards, page layout, and photo and video requirements
  • Knowledge of the Square e-commerce platform and capability to manage an online store
  • Experience with Google Analytics and search engine optimization
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Understanding colour theory, layout, and design principles are considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work on several projects at once
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively and productively in a fast-paced environment
  • Capacity to work well with a team and independently
  • Willing to work flexible hours including occasional evenings and weekends
Compensation
  • This position is part of CUPE Local 5154 - Level 5 ($30.90-$34.34)
  • This position is a full-time position, 35 hours a week
