Having won the Not-For-Profit of the Year from the Cloverdale Chamber of Commerce in 2017, 2019, & 2021 we strive to continuously grow in the quality and capacity of the services we provide. With a highly relational structure amongst the staff, volunteers, and those we serve, everyone here has a heart for people. CCK exists to address poverty and food insecurity within Cloverdale and surrounding communities. We currently operate a soup kitchen, meals on wheels program, Regional Food Bank, extreme weather shelter, clothing cupboard and Christmas Hamper Program. The duties and responsibilities are primarily dealing with food logistics with the food bank and Christmas Hamper Program and helping with the Extreme Weather Shelter. The CCK may require me to perform duties of other positions or alter the present duties at any time. Job descriptions will be reviewed and updated annually during the annual position evaluation/discussion. This position is generally Monday \xe2\x80\x93 Friday unless required to work a special event or rental on the weekend in which case a weekday can be flexed. SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Trucking
  • Overseeing maintenance, insurance, and annual inspections of 1-ton, 3- ton, and 5-ton trucks, ensuring trucks are in working order and safe to drive each day. This would also include ensuring daily inspections are being performed, driver logs are being completed, and that each truck has sufficient fuel for the day pick-ups.
  • Retaining, and scheduling volunteer truck drivers to ensure all weekly food pick-ups are arranged. Assist in recruiting new volunteers.
Warehouse
  • Overseeing of all general warehouse duties which may include organizing pallets, organization of coolers and freezers, moving of food between receiving and distribution areas.
  • Help maintain accurate inventory of food being stored.
  • Organizing waste and recycling pick-up. Coordinating clean-up of the warehouse.
  • Oversee maintenance of fridges and freezers
  • Retaining, and scheduling of warehouse volunteers. Assist in recruiting new volunteers.
  • Develop systems as needed to ensure warehouse runs efficiently and safely.
  • Ensure safe and and effective use of warehouse equipment.
Food Donations
  • Oversee the Food Mesh program
  • Ensure we have volunteer drivers to pick up from each food mesh location
  • Ensure that all of the food coming in and going out is weighed and entered into the app
  • Liaise with food mesh if there are any issues with donations
  • Liaise with distributors and trucking companies to ensure timely pick-up of all donations offered
  • Ensure donations are off-loaded, sorted, and put away in a timely manner.
  • Connect and build relationship with potential food donors
  • Liaise with food bank coordinator, Director of Mobile Meals, and kitchen staff & volunteers to ensure food gets properly distributed between programs
Staff and Volunteer Management
  • Oversee the warehouse and food bank staff and volunteers and ensure good communication between team members.
  • Ensure staff safety in the warehouse areas.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Preference given to those with prior warehouse experience
  • Forklift certified or willingness to become certified
  • Operating knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • MS 365 (Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Preference given to those with experience driving 3-ton or 5-ton trucks
  • Ability to handle in a very busy work environment.
  • Valid BC driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and clean driving record.
  • Experience leading and communicating with volunteer leaders and teams of all ages is an asset
  • Successful criminal record background check with vulnerable sector check and reference
