Job Description


SUMMARY:

As part of the senior management team, the Vice President, Finance is accountable for and will oversee all day to day financial and leadership matters within the department. This will include but is not limited to financial reporting, adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), audit and compliance, business planning and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, leadership and providing advisory support (subject matter expert) to non-financial leaders. The Vice President, Finance will report to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and will provide input into the strategic direction and the short and long-term objectives of the organization. The Vice President, Finance is a key member of the Finance organization.

SUPERVISION:

  • Manager of Accounting, Controller and their direct reports.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Establish, implement, and communicate the direction, standards and procedures of the operations within the finance departments;
  • Collaborate with leadership, other divisions and departments to develop and meet Company financial goals while supplying expertise and guidance on financial operations projects and systems;
  • Identify, recommend, and implement new processes, technologies and systems to improve and streamline financial organizational processes and its effective use of resources and materials;
  • Ensure that departmental decisions and project plans are in line with the organization\xe2\x80\x99s short and long - term business plan and vision;
  • Establish, communicate, and implement best in class finance related policies, systems, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective, consistent support and robust execution;
  • Review and approve financial statements, implement budgets and staffing requirements for projects;
  • Establish and administer the operational budget for the department;
  • Present periodic performance reports and metrics to the CFO;
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies, trends and policy changes within the industry;
  • Identify training gaps and needs within the department and ensure the proper training is provided;
  • Lead and oversee the day-to-day performance and delivery of the finance team; provide strong leadership, positive and critical feedback and mentoring of employees;
  • Develop and coordinate all relationships with external stakeholders;
  • Analyze company\'s financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs and compliance with budgets; issue regular status and ad hoc reports to the CFO.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & KEY COMPENTENCIES:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s or Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Finance; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 10 years of industry-related experience including 5 years in a senior leadership role;
  • Chartered Accountant designation with Public Accounting experience;
  • Strong understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS);
  • Preparation of complex IFRS compliant financial statements;
  • Strong analytical, interpretative and advisory skills;
  • Proven track record of success, leadership skills and experience managing multidisciplinary teams;
  • Excellent client service and interpersonal/communication skills, verbally and written, with the ability to communicate effectively up and down the organization;
  • Able to exercise sound judgment, is self-motivated, with the ability to prioritize key requirements in a demanding environment;
  • Highly conversant with Microsoft Office;
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure and exceed deadlines;
  • Must be able to travel.
