Position: Kennel Attendant

Opened in May 2024, our brand-new, 24,000-square-foot hospital in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, delivers high-quality emergency and specialty care to pets across the greater Halifax Regional Municipality. Compensation

• $17-$23/hour, based on skill level and assessment
• $2.50/hour shift premium

• Weekdays: 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m.
• Weekends: Friday 5:00 p.m. - Monday 8:00 a.m

Schedule

• Targeting three 12-hour shifts per week (days)
• Includes a mix of days, evenings--flexibility required

Position Overview
As a Kennel Attendant, you'll be responsible for maintaining cleanliness throughout the hospital. We're looking for someone who is hardworking and thrives in a busy environment. You'll play a key part in ensuring smooth communication, compassionate support, and a welcoming environment for every visitor. This is a stepping-stone position--it's a vital role at the heart of our hospital.
Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the hospital. Including, but not limited to cleaning/maintaining kennels, laundry and dishes.
• Restocking supplies
• Collaborate closely with medical teams to support patient care
• Observing animal behaviour and wellbeing. Notifying team members of any concerns
• Assisting staff with animal restraint
• Additional administrative or support tasks as needed

Requirements

• Compassionate, patient, and professional demeanor
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in a team environment
• Comfortable handling animals
• Physically able
• Fluent English skills (speaking & reading) are required for the role.
