Job Summary


We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Upholstery Repair Technician to join our

CR TECHNIQUES-team.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic and background. The position is to provide expert repair techniques and upholstery services across both automotive interiors and furniture, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship, durability, and aesthetic enhancement. The Upholsterer applies advanced technical skills to repair, restore, and customize leather, vinyl, fabric, and specialty textiles while maintaining a focus on precision, safety, and customer satisfaction. This role supports both company's commitment to excellence by delivering consistent, professional results that exceed client expectations of the position and clients.

Duties

Requirements



Repair and restore vinyl, plastic, leather, fabric, and foam- Sofa Chairs Perform upholstery work, plastic welding, and redyeing techniques- Dash /Door panels We will provide- Required tools and Repair systems- Work Vehicle provided by C.R. Techniques Communicate with clients and ensure their expectations are met Travel to project sites across Alberta (with some out-of-town assignments) Repair, restore, vehicle interiors including seats, dashboards, door panels, headliners, consoles, and trim. Furniture Upholstery & Restoration



Repair a wide range of furniture including chairs, sofas, and specialty pieces. Re-Dye Recondition Furniture. Restore both functional integrity and visual appeal of furniture pieces.

Craftsmanship & Technical Execution



Utilize advanced sewing, stitching, and repair techniques with consistency and accuracy. Conduct repairs on plastic trim, panels, and supporting interior components. Ensure all work meets company standards for safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Collaboration & Workflow



Work closely with front-end staff, sewers, and shopflow schedule and management to coordinate job scheduling and ensure timely completion. Provide clear communication on project requirements, challenges, and progress. Assist with intake inspections and final quality checks before customer delivery.

Customer Experience & Professionalism



Handle customer vehicles with care and professionalism, including safe driving and proper protection during service. Contribute to a positive shop environment by maintaining organization, cleanliness, and efficiency. Uphold the company's reputation through high-quality workmanship and attention to detail.

Skills & Competencies

Minimum 5+ years of upholstery experience,

with proven expertise in

both

automotive

and

furniture

applications

.

Advanced ability to work with leather, vinyl, fabrics, and specialty materials. Strong sewing, patternmaking, and foam-sculpting skills. Proven track record of high-quality, durable repairs and restorations. Ability to assess damage and determine cost-effective repair vs. replacement solutions. Strong attention to detail, craftsmanship, and finishing work. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to adapt techniques to unique challenges. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Valid driver's license for mobile or off-site service work if required and moving customers vehicles- Must know how to operate standard transmission vehicles. Experience working with dealerships, restoration shops, or high-end furniture manufacturers. Knowledge of advanced adhesives, heat techniques, and leather refinishing. Customer service skills and professional communication ability. Ability to train and mentor junior upholsterers or apprentices. Ability to conceptualize, assemble, and disassemble intricate structures Keen insight into how components interact within larger frameworks Strong interpersonal and communication abilities. Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. Skilled in component-level diagnostics and structural breakdowns

Additional considerations -



Perform advanced upholstery repairs and installations for automotive interiors, including seats, headliners, door panels, dashboards, and consoles. Restore, repair furniture (residential and commercial), including sofas, chairs, cushions, and specialty items. Diagnose upholstery defects and develop creative, durable repair solutions. Work with leather, vinyl, fabric, and foam to achieve factory-quality or custom results. Install leather and vinyl repair kits, and complete custom-fit upholstery modifications as needed. Match colors, textures, and patterns to maintain aesthetic integrity. Collaborate with team members, dealerships, body shops, and private clients to meet deadlines and exceed quality expectations. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment. Perform leather, vinyl, fabric, and specialty textile repairs with a focus on precision and durability. Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) regularly. Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills. Willingness to work flexible hours as needed. Education & Certifications



Strong competent background in automotive industry or upholstery services would be advantageous.

Technical or Trades certification(s) - are an asset Grade 12 Graduate or equivalent Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Safety certifications (e.g., WHMIS, First Aid/CPR) are an asset.
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00-$29.07 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
